Demond Wilson, 79, Lamont on Sanford and Son

Very sad news. Sanford & Son was one of the best sitcoms of the '70s. Hilarious gags and a great theme song. RIP Demond and say hi to Redd for us :cry: :cry: :cry:

I don't recall either one of these two shows, but then neither lasted a full season. Did he do any acting beyond this?

On Baby I'm Back, he was reunited with Helen Martin who played Millie on Sanford and Son.
 
Looks like the last surviving Sanford and Son cast members are Hal Williams (Officer Smitty) and Howard Platt (Officer Hoppy), the two cops that would show up at the junkyard regularly.
 
He was the last living member of the lead cast, and I believe that only leaves Manuel Carasco, Howard Platt and Hal Williams as cast members still left with us from the entire series.

Damn, another glaring sign that our childhood is slowly, but surely, fading away. Rest in peace, Demond Wilson. 🌹
 
So his real name was Grady Wilson, just like Whitman Mayo's character on the show.
And Redd Foxx' real name was John Sanford, but he had a brother named Fred.

Wilson has a very interesting bio. Earned a Purple Heart in Vietnam, considered becoming
a Catholic priest, eventually became a Christian author. R.I.P.

His father was named Fred and I read somewhere he based the character on him. Or at least he named the character after him.

I didn't know about the brother.
