Dennis and Callahan strike again

Just a few observations.....

Callahan said that the Red Sox really stick out in Japan, except for Dicekay and Okajima, because they would just blend in.

Callahan said the only reason Deval is governor and Barach Obama is doing well in the polls is because each is black.

Callahan said Sean Taylor has only himself to blame for his death.

Callahan said Ex-NJ Governor McGrevey had a perverted gay relationship (gay = perverted?).

Asians, Blacks, and Gays........And was just from listening to 4 shows in the last 6 months.

Oh well, just venting.....at least we have 2 other morning sports radio options in this market.

I guess D&C are 'Typical White Men' (Trademark applied for) in the same way that Obama's grandmother is, he said, a 'Typical White Woman' (Trademark applied for).

But aside from pointing this out, you're right: D&C show up as the first two creatures on the far left of that familiar Evolution of Man illustration we all know and love.

Jealousy all around.

Ex-NJ Governor McGrevey recently said that he and his wife had a three year threesome relationship and had other orgie experiences. That's probably more along the lines of what C was talking about.

I would say that Big Papi, Manny Ramirez and company might stick out in a Japanese crowd more than Dice K and Okajima would.

It's not unreasonable to say that Obama's age and lack of expeirence might be more of an issue if he were white. Being critical of Obama scares some white people who don't want to seem racist. It took extreme racial statements made by a pastor that Obama has spoken veri highly of to finally get the media to go after Obama. Not his lack of experience or his undefined policies or his age. He got a pass for a long time. Why?

Sean Taylor spent a lot of time being a bad boy. There's an old cliche about living and dying by the sword.

Callahan has said much worse thing than any of the stuff listed here. There's not a Metco Gorilla on that list.

1. callahan is right about the sox sticking out in japan. who could argue that? plus, it is obvious he was trying to be a bit humorous.

2. i disagree with callahan on patrick. patrick was elected because he worked his butt off and built one heck of a grass roots organization. race had nothing to do with it. (obama lost the mass primary by 16 points)

3. yes, that is insensitive about taylor.

4. of course mcgreevey lived a perverted lifestyle. this is a guy who admits to regular trips to the highway rest stop...

Come on ex radio pimp.....

While I have no dog in any radio fight, are you that compelled to defend Gerry Callahan and John Dennis? Well let's just say Callahan, as Dennis rarely brings anything of note to the table, unless he's reading article text.

So let me see if have this straight, ERP (I have difficulty referring to anyone in a serious exchange of thought as "pimp"), so ERP, so you if you were sexually engaged with two women you could be classified as perverted?

So are you saying if Michael Jordan was dropped into an African American community, he wouldn't stick out for who he is, simply because you couldn't identify him as quickly.

Support Obama or not, he's where he is because he's earned it, and he has the fortune of being pitted against a candidate that alot of Amercians want nothing to do with. If he has demonstrated that he is a sub-standard candidate, his race would be a non factor. He has been accepted by the public because he is perceived to be just the opposite, and again, his race has been a non factor in a majority of the primary and caucus competitions.

Sean Taylor was killed for reasons that nothing to do with his reputation, his friends, or his actions. Taylor's house was invaded because he had money. There are enough examples of suburban "lilly white" folk out there who are victims of burglary that never lived by the sword.

I may be taking the long route to defend my original post on this subject. That said, the real mission here is to refute the post from ERP in defense of Gerry Callahan, who is either an irresponsible intolerant bully/coward, taking shots high atop the Mass Pike in a security building while most of us are in the drive-thru at Dunkin' Donuts, wanting to know why the line isn't moving faster, or he's just reduced himself to playing the shock jock role. Either way, it sucks and shame on your ERP for defending them by the same standard Carville does for Hillary. And that's a low blow.

Well said riverboatman. I consider myself a conservative Republican and I cringe when Callahan claims to be one of us. Callahan is just an a**hole, plain and simple. He's a name calling, cheap shot artist. He's on his best behavior around Schilling, Brady, Doc Rivers, and anyone else that appears on their show. Every one else is regarded as pond scum. I'd love to hear Schilling go after him for the remarks he makes about his teammates. The same with Brady for what they say about Belichick.

Come on riverboat man, I'm not "that compelled" to defend D&C as a regular part of my life. I don't even listen very often. I just thought your points were nit picky and kinda soft compared to other things I've head these guys say.

Shame one me for defending him? No. It's more like shame on me for disagreeing with your silly post.

Are you that silly that you can't adress me by my board name? You can call me ERP but to go so far out of your way to burn on my name is silly. You are very silly. I was in the radio business and I left the business because of the pimping I had to be part of. I am proud to be EX RADIO and happy to be away from the pimping that I witnessed and experienced. I am Ex Radio Pimp. Hi.

As for perverts...many people who consider themselves to be moral or religious would think that a man sharing his wife with another man is perverted. It's not a radical view.

Your point about Michael Jordan made no sense to me. I do know that no, that is not what I was saying. Are we so PC that we can't admit that David Ortiz would stick out like a sore thumb in The Tokyo Dome?

Obama is a good speaker who speaks in slogans. It is a widely accepted opinion that the media has until recently been very easy on him. Why would that be? Notice now that he's come under some fire (for reasons pertaining to race) his poll numbers have suffered signfificantly in favor of Hillary. He's not as awesome as you think.

I know how Sean Taylor was killed thanks. Some might call it Karma. C's comment was insensitive, yes. I'm not sure that makes it wrong, it just makes it not nice. And I'm not sensitive enough to think C's statement is anywhere near his most extreme. It's no Metco Gorilla. I know that if I heard him say that the last thing that would cross my mind would be to make a stink about it on this board. It's just not that interesting.

There is no shame in me thinking that your post was lame. That was my point. I wasn't so much defending DC as I was saying: your post is lame.

ERP....ERP....ERP

My post was lame? For a guy who claims you don't listen very often, you seem tuned in to alot of the moronic and insensetive garbage Callahan delivers while Dennis nods along like a bobble head parrot.

There's no shame in disagreeing with my posts. I'm flattered you assigned that much respect to my thoughts to invest time crafting your pointed responses.

As for your board name, I'm not going to apologize for avoiding it. You employ a word, as your handle, that represents a viscous lack of respect. And whether you care, and I'm sure you will say you won't, when that word is used as part of your calling card, you will not be taken as seriously as you may want to be. You can call me old-school, square, ill-informed, righteous, PC, Richie Cunningham, or Sponge Bob Squarepants, but my point still holds true. Maybe you should be Ex Radio Weasel, or Ex Radio Manipulator, or Ex Radio Misrepresentation Artist, or how about Ex Radio Liar, oh better yet, how about ERP. That last one is my favorite, but any of those listed would serve you much better than the one have now.

Was Bill Clinton perverted? There is testimony he inserted a cigar into the 21 year old intern. Just wondering how you classify that.

The comment Callahan made about blending into a crowd was not about Ortiz, it was about Dicekay and Okajima. The claim was that they would blend in, implying (man, I hate to even say it, although it's apparent I need to explain to you the overt offensiveness to Callahan's statement) that they (Japanese people) all look alike. That was his point, not that Ortiz has a distinctively different in appearnace than the locals. Come on ERP, you have to see that one.

As for Obama, where did you get an impression that I find him "awesome?" I gave no indication whatsoever as to my opinion of him. I made the point that the public percieves him to be credible, and that's why he's persevering at present. It has nothing to do with his the skin. Callahan was clear that his success was a direct link to his skin. It was irresponsible, politically incorrect, and without evidence. It was a shoot from hip slap in an effort to discredit him. Regardless of your candidate of choice, you have to recognize that. There no excuse not to. Please don't choose difficulty over reason.

Sean Taylor....Karma? There was no "goes around comes around" in this sad sorry. You are completely wrong. The comments were dead wrong. His death was caused by nothing that relates to any seeds he planted prior. This was unrelated to anything. If Taylor was white, Callahan's comments would been directed at the black killers not the white victim. His intolerance for the black culture is so blatant and obvious, I can make one safe assumption in this post, and that is you are clearly not an African American. And just for the record, neither am I, but I can see bright and clear that if I was, I'd be fuming over his comments. As a white guy, I'm not fuming, but I am annoyed.

Is the Metco gorilla comment the standard for you, ERP? Everything else uttered from Callahan up to the gorilla remark is OK? I think the line not to cross is alot closer than you or Callahan do.

Enjoy the Dennis and Callahan Show on Sports Radio 850 WEEI weekdays from 6-10. It's a great show. For you ERP, I strongly recommend it.

Your friendly lame post provider.

And back to the real world we go. The real world where Japanese guys blend in the crowd in Tokyo unlike a group of large white, black and hispanic baseball players. Why is that wrong to say? It's true.

"There's no shame in disagreeing with my posts. I'm flattered you assigned that much respect to my thoughts to invest time crafting your pointed responses."

I was being sarcastic, I didn't think I'd have to explain that.

Bill Clinton could definetly be looked at as a pervert by some. That opinion is not an outlandish. At the very least he commited textbook sexual harrasment. If I did that to an intern I might be fired. My wife would leave me. My pastor and congregation might call me a pervert.

Karma is all about what comes around goes around. Not neccesarily in a direct way coming from the people one has wronged. For examle if a man is a child molester but is never arrested or convicted, then one day his family jewels are mutilated by an escaped pit bull some might say that's Karma. Sean Taylor was facing 20 plus years for firing a gun on a highway into moving cars and ATV's. Innocent people could have been killed. If it weren't for a dumb prosecuter who was using the case as a way to get attention on his radio show, Taylor may not have been handed such a sweet deal. He pled guilty and paid a stiff fine and was placed on probation. For shooting a gun at cars on a highway. He wasn't a good guy. He also had commited armed robbery. Very little justice was reached in his cases. Until one day...

The Metco Gorilla was one of the worst things I'd ever heard anyone say. It is a standard of how low these guys can go. The examples you sighted aren't even close.

Let the pimp thing go. It's really not that serious. Words have more than one meaning. My name is not in reference to selling women and you know it. But you don't care what a person means, you care about red flag words that trigger your PC lobe and cause you to be offended. It's a message board, it's not that serious. I really don't care if ERP causes me to be disrespected by someone who thinks the name represents a vivious lack of respect. It's just not that serious. Lighten up man.

As for Obama, please answer the question I've asked. Why was the media so soft on him for so long? I think the color of his skin is a factor and I don't care if you think it's not PC. PC is big with you. I think it's ruining discourse in this country. I think Obama was not examined like everyone else who ran for president because, in part, of the color of his skin. I thik the media was afraid to look racist. Going after African Americans for their sins ALWAYS results in charges of racism. From Barry Bonds to Jeremiah Wright to O.J. someone is always screaming "racism".

People get their opinions from the media. The media painted a very rosey picture of Obama for a long time. Most people I talk to who support him can't even tell me why. His experiecne and background somehow don't matter. In the real world your resume matters.

Callahan is not 100% right but he's not 100% wrong either.

Okay, maybe the media went easy on him because he's black...

Or, maybe because they went easy on him because he's not a Clinton. or, maybe because he's a man. or, maybe because he's not a woman. Maybe because he's just easy to like. or he's the new kid? or they wanted a horserace instead of a Clinton coronation.

Why is the media going easy on McCain?

Why is the media going easy on McCain?

Because they want to be on good terms with the incoming administration?

"Every radio has at least two knobs...one...TURNS It OFF!"
- George Carlin

D&C are fine making whichever comments were made. I didn't hear 'em, but I'm hearing a lot about them. Let's look again...

Will Ortiz, Ramirez et al stand out in Japan? Absolutely. Nothing wrong with that statement. Anyone who's been to Japan will notice a uniformity in their cities. There's a lot of worker-bee like attire, and the people are relatively indistinguishable. Not unlike Times Square at noon. However, certain people stick out. Those from a completley different culture. A woman in a burka perhaps in NYC would stand out. A 250+ black man would absolutely stick out in Tokyo. Far more than an Asian born player. So no harm no foul there. Truth.

Is homosexuality perverted? To a majority of Americans, probably. Is it wrong to classify a public figure who went to rest stops for homosexual encounters as being perverted? I'm betting it's not the behavior of the majority of his constituents. So, no I'd say it's perverse behavior. Not the homosexual part...the meeting at rest stops part.

Obama...this is so easy. If you don't think he's getting elevated for being an articulate black man, you're deluded beyond belief. The man isn't even a one-term senator. And he's somehow qualified to run for President? What has Obama done that makes him a better choice than McCain, or Clinton? And let me just preface this with, I have no political party affiliation.

Obama is good copy. He's the "see we're a progressive nation" candidate. Trying to show the world that we're not racist. When in fact, we remain racially segregated, and always will. We won't be able to look past race, until we look past race. Just the fact that we're discussiing this makes it an issue.

So...were D&C off base here? Nope.

Sean Taylor was a punk. Plain & simple. He lived a "thug life" for most of it, and in the end, paid one of the many prices of that lifestyle. This wasn't an innocent kid, standing on Blue Hill Ave., gunned down by accident. This was a guy with a long rap sheet, and who'd been on the wrong side of the law all too often. Not a tragedy by any means. Natural selection. The victim...is his child, who'll have to grow up knowign his father was garbage. Tough pill to swallow. He was killed by relatives of his girlfriend, who were also in the same circles as he. It was not a random thing, it was the kind of behavior that emanates from thug culture. A life Sean Taylor embraced because that culture is fostered in his community. Does it make it racist to point that out? I think not. The truth is stereotypes exist because they're true.

So...were D&C wrong here? Nope.

I don't agree with everything I hear on the radio...so I don't listen. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it wrong. I happen to hate religious broadcasting, so should it be banned? One could successfully argue that religion is the largest cause of death mankind has ever known, and that fostering it on the airwaves encourages killing in the name...

But...I don't care enough to squelch it. I just don't listen. Perhaps you should think about it. Because yours is (according to Arbitron and forgive the pun) the minority viewpoint.

You mean, the guy with the black child is going to win this time?? (kind of ironic, ain't it??) (does anyone have any audio of what Callahan had to say about that??)

haha, at this point, who the heck knows what's going to happen? GREAT year for watching, lots can happen between now and then...

in any case, the media luv of McCain goes way back...

Neanderpaul, have you been?

a 250+ blond man would absolutely stick out in Tokyo.

Koreans stick out in Tokyo.

In fact, one time in a business meeting I had in Tokyo, after learning that I had been in Seoul prior to Tokyo, the Japanese client asked me how I found Korean people compared to Japanese people... I said they were wonderful, I had a very nice time there. He said, "but how did you find them.... physically.....?" I asked, "what do you mean" (I mean, I knew his little game but wasn't playing....) He said, "well, did you find them much bigger and ...." (no, not in THAT sense), in the sense that Koreans are not refined and Japanese are.

As far as I could tell, we all (black, white, brunette, blond) appear to be savage louts in their eyes...

I think his name was Callahanaka, or something like that... ;D
