Dennis Miller on WYSL

I was somewhat surprised to hear that WYSL radio will be carrying Dennis Miller's talk show starting March 26. Miller doesn't seem to fit into the conservative talk format the station currently airs ( Ingraham, O'Reilly and Nojay). It should prove to be interesting to see if Miller attracts an audience for WYSL.

Miller had a right wing turnaround a few years ago. His views should fit in nicely with their other programing. It just may be "funnier". What time is it going to be on? Will it be live or delayed?

Miller has an iconoclastic rep, but his outlook and philosophy are a pretty close match with O'Reilly's, so it's actually a pretty natural fit if you're programming to create an overall philosophical branding for the station. Don't know if that's what Savage is shooting for at WYSL. But if he is, Miller will serve him well.

Miller's show on WYSL airs from 3 to 5pm. Monday-Friday. I'm not certain yet if the show is repeated over the weekends. I will find out when I go to work on Saturday morning.

Miller's young, hip, arrogant and opinionated... all necessary attributes for a successful talk show host. Additionally, he's a well-known name. Some might say he's on the downhill side of an acting and comedy career, but he's good fodder to be thrown up against WHAM (and WROC.) If Miller snags some listeners, he's a hero. If not, well, his syndicator can claim clearance in Rochester, NY. It looks like a smart move on Bob Savage's behalf.
