The local gardening columnist had hosted a weekly radio program for three decades. After airing on various news/talk stations, it most recently ended up on country B-105.
Effective this week, McKeown is being replaced by another gardening expert, Tony Works, and renamed "In And Around The House," and will air in the same time slot as McKeown's "Outdoor Living" program had run over the last three years.
The Enquirer's John Kiesewetter reached out to McKeown for a comment on the development, and here's what he had to say: "They were taking up to 24 minutes an hour for commercials. I didn’t have enough time to give tips out. I couldn’t get in any phone calls and the ratings went down."
Here's a person who hosts a popular local radio show that's selling out 40% of its broadcast time, still giving him 60% to work with. Does he have it written into his contract that his program demands at least 110 minutes of airtime per show? I mean, think about it... Here's somebody who's complaining about his own show selling spots. Doesn't make sense to me. Be glad that your show is selling... and find a way to balance the content on your show so that it meets your needs... after all, you've been doing this for 30 years, Denny!

So what's the next radio stop for this gardening guru going to be? Will Clear Channel take him back? How about WQRT?
