Denny Schaffer on The Fan Rocks!

I love this guy! I don't agree with him but he sure is fun to listen to. He is akin to Chris Krok with the sound effects and such. I love it. Maybe I am thrilled because I have never heard him before (I can't get WGST at all being outside the Perimeter) but I hope Dickey hires him full time! :)

I'm not sure "bombed" is completely appropriate. The show was given less than a year to succeed against Boortz, had practically no promotional support from station management, and in fact, had picked up a couple of ticks despite all that in the last two books when CC pulled the plug on all the live talk shows in favor of syndication. Perhaps given a fresh start in a different, more supportive setting, Denny might be able to make a go of it. Certainly, no one dominates the sports chat genre in this town right now.

He wasn't a major market guy. Gabe stuck him in there. Gabe's losing clout fast.

I certainly can't argue with the fact that Denny failed to prove himself at GST... whether it was entirely his fault or not. But there's still a chance that 680 might be a good fit... he might actually draw an audience, albeit not a giant one, if he can be less angry and less preachy on a station that's not predominantly political. Anyway, I'm curious to see how he handles his auditions on the Fan.

Denny Schaeffer is a legendary radio pioneer and true creative genius. During his tenure at WGST, he dominated ratings and forced Neal Boortz into early retirement.

It was brilliant for 680 to hire Denny before he got his own TV show on the Fox Television Network.

If you can't get GST outside the perimeter....you've got a problem. Unless by 'outside the perimeter' you mean you live in Dawsonville or Dahlonega.....that I could understand.
