For Immediate Release

Clear Channel Radio Names Denny Schaffer
Late Morning Host for WGST-AM

Atlanta, Georgia. August 30, 2005 – Clear Channel Radio today named Denny Schaffer as host of the Late Morning show, 8AM-Noon, on Braves Radio 640 GST. Schaffer joins WGST from sister station WSPD, in Toledo, Ohio.

Through his 25 years experience in radio, Schaffer has brought ratings dominance in virtually every community he has served. Toledo has been his home since 1993 where he hosted the highly rated “Breakfast Club” on 92.5 KISS-FM for 10 years. Schaffer has since provided his skills in the talk radio arena, voicing afternoons on 1370 WSPD. While at WSPD, he grew the coveted Men 25-54 demographic from a 2.2 share to a 12.3. Schaffer is also the #1 Fill-In Host for the nationally syndicated Glenn Beck Show, and will continue to do so from his new home at Braves Radio 640 GST in Atlanta.

“Denny’s energy and drive are boundless and his talent is considerable,” said Mike Wheeler, Regional V-P for Programming. “We’re thrilled that Denny has chosen to continue his career at WGST.”

“I have a burning desire to test and challenge myself at the next level. WGST gives me that opportunity and I am so thankful and feel so blessed to be part of the team….and besides shoveling snow is overrated,” commented Schaffer.

Denny Schaffer brings his love for God, Family, and Country to Clear Channel Atlanta beginning October 3rd.

Congratulations Atlanta!

Since I can't take my computer everywhere to hear GST's stream, I'll just have to hope that Glenn Beck takes a lot of vacation time.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Here's the press release from GST

I liked this guy when I heard him.

Good choice by GST.

But it didn't take long enough.

Look out Boortz! God is apparently on WGST's side starting October 3!

Denny is a good guy, and talented. I hope he is wise enough to rent for the first year and not buy a house.

He joins a station with no PD, he's up against Bootz and his 13 share, and he has "Grumpy Mc No-Audience" as his lead-in.

I'm not sure even God can help him, but I wish him the best.

Re: Here's the press release from GST

If CC is going to do what it always does (no promotion, no advertising, no $$$ at all) then Denny Schaffer will be a blip in Atlanta radio. He won't beat Boortz.

All indicators point to CC practicing its own standards. After all, they've hired Schaffer from another CC station, the company's typical MO when it comes to hiring. That way, they don't have to pay decent $$$ to people, just give them a minor raise and send them up the ladder.

Wanna bet that the new PD comes from a CC "farm team" just like Collins did? Anyone know anything about the PD in Nashville?

How Gabe Hobbs gets away with dumping this kind of crap everywhere is beyond belief.

Re: Here's the press release from GST

The acting PD is Steve Versnick who was the Clear Channel PD in Birmingham. He was originally brought here to run the Braves network.

Would not surprise me if he got the regular PD job with Market PD Mike Wheeler very involved.
