Denon DN-951FA

Hello everyone!
Looking for a service/operators manual for a Denon DN-951FA, preferably in PDF. Also, can anyone recommend a decent service center for these units. I have one that may need the optical lazer replaced. TIA
RadioRickster / WXJBFM :)

I've used Paul over at ProDigital in PA and a colleague has as well. From what my other station personnel has told me it sounds like 951a's are big problems compared to the newer ones (as far as reliability goes).

If anybody has a chance of getting it going give them a shot.

Thank you for the info Bill. Much appreciated. We have a total of 4 machines at XJB, which for all intents and purposes, work ok with the exception of 2 (the last being totally removed from service). That's the one that I believe needs the optic replaced, which is all the more reason to send it out for service. The first 2 players work fine, but the 3rd unit has a strange issue. When we slip a cd-cart in, it shows all information on the display, and it plays very well! But, when we hit play, the last 2 display digits (for Frame) on the counter disappear. When it re-Qs to the next cut (or another one we pick), the 2 frame digits return until we hit play again. Then they disappear again. Not something affecting the play operation of the machine, but I was told there is a way to somehow correct this issue from the front selector knob. That's why I'm looking for a copy of the manual. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has experienced this issue.

Thanks again!

I recall a dip that shut off the frame counter on playback (going on memory, could have been a different unit). I have not used a CD Player in years.

Thanks for the reply and the link, but I cannot access that URL. Do you have another link to the manual? TIA.

I've used Pro Digital a bunch of times with 951/961 CD players. He has sold me some refurbished units in the past.

There are special "codes" used to set the functions of the display, cueing, re-cue etc.

INDEX+TIME+STOP will get you in to the programming mode.

Start at page 6 on the manual: http://www2.aerne.com/Public/dok-sw.nsf/0c6187bc750a16fcc1256e3c005a9740/6dd2f9915a3490a8c12571620046ecfc/$FILE/DN951.pdf

Are you using Exploder, Chrome or Firefox?

Works fine for me on Mozilla & Chrome. Haven't touched IE in years.

Got it - not sure why IE didn't like it earlier, but it's there now. And, success! Frames counter is back.
Thank you again WNTIRadio and Chris too.
Best Regards,
Rick ;D
