Dentist office music

There used to be a "beautiful music" format that many of us considered dentist office music or elevator music. In Indy WXTZ 103.3 FM did very well with the format for awhile. But it was the type of music that businesses would use as "filler" in the office. My question is, why do you suppose that in Indy nowadays, B 105.7 is more likely to be used as background music in the dentist office than the smooth jazz station, WYJZ? The smooth jazz format is more than 50% instrumental and would seem to be more appropriate "filler" in the office.

Sirius 9 is what my dentist plays...used to play Gold 104.5 until it got JACKed.

WXTZ 103.3 FM was number 2 in Indy when it went off the air. The ratings were great. But, people were not listening to the ads because they were using it for background music.

Most of the doctor's offices in Lafayette that I've been to over the years have played either WGLM (then AC) or WASK-FM (oldies). I don't know what they're playing now that WGLM is hot AC. I'd figure it's pretty much stayed the same.

Soft A/C (B105.7) would seemingly be the heir apparent to Beautiful Music stations of the past, but at offices and stores I've heard Smooth Jazz, country, rock and about everything else but hip-hop.
