But why would Clear Channel Exchange KPBI for KWLI.
KBPI would become Clear Channel's "sacrificial lamb" as it were in the deal (Better than giving up one of the AM outlets which you know CBS would LOVE to land) Another station they could sacrifice could also sacrifice would be KTCL, but that would be like giving away part of their audience that's WAY too close to KBCO. By giving up KBPI instead, sure they give up the metal heads, but its not like they'll likely be caught listening to 93.3, 97.3 or (Especially) 103.5 anyway. Metal heads tend to stay loyal to stations that play their music.
To Flip 92.5 to Party.....i thought 92.1 was spanish Oldies & owned by Entravision same as KPXK.
It is. But by talking CBS into selling 92.5 & then flipping it to Party once the sale is approved by the FCC (Which I believe it would if it was contingent on a swap involving one of Clear Channel's properties in the Denver market) and finalized by CC & CBS, tCC would have a much better chance of appealing to Denver's Latin Contemporary audience as it wouldn't be right next to a behemoth as they are now.
Also why not Compete with KS..... and also what about Adult Urban..???
There is NO WAY that KSYY can compete with KQKS. Why? For starters, Denver isn't even KSYY's primary COL (the
small town of
Bennett, CO is). Secondly, the station doesn't even put out a decent signal beyond car radios into Denver. Without a decent signal, NO ONE in Denver's urban areas will even bother tuning in (Remember the various incarnations of an urban format on 102.1?).
Lastly, if anyone has a chance at becoming an Urban AC that
isn't owned by Clear Channel, CBS, Entercomm or Entravision, it would be Denver Radio Group's Martini 101.5 Because of the station's "Cosmopolitan" image, it could easily get away with running an Urban AC format as long as it didn't include 70s Disco (Which can be heard on Sassy 107 anyway). The only thing Denver has that even smells of an Urban AC is Lincoln Financial's KJCD-FM 104.3, but that's not really an Urban AC in its truest sense (It's more of a Smooth Jazz/NAC station than anything, but to some extent has the sound of a Soft AC outlet).
Anyhow....
THAT is why I said the things I did earlier. Make sense now?
Cheers
