Depetro biggest loser in Cianci deal

Agreed! It will be John Depetro's show. I believe he'll get to do it the way HE wants to.
I think John will still be the morning talk King and Dan Yorke reigns in the afternoons.
As for Cianci and St Pierre, I don't know. I just don't know.. Walter.
 
I really don't see why St. Pierre is there at all. The Big attraction is Cianci. Does the ATTRACTION really need a DISTRACTION? It kind of defeats the purpose.
 
one more time, this is a dream come true for JD. someone with his limited talented being moved to morning drive is the equivlent of the bishop making pope. you can't go any higher and still be on the air. your quarter hour listeners are never higher and the ad rates reflect that. JD mantains or even lifts the numbers his check will reflect it. his contract may already stipulate any daypart move requires a salary adjustn=ment. and he may be set to run it:
2 hours of MCing the morning zoo-1 hour of soft talk, which will be almost a intro to the independent man we all know from 9 to 10.

depetro ain't going nowhere. his ego won't permit it-he's no 2nd banana to the worlds biggest yellow fruit-laffey. kass did because he had nothing else to prove at radio and isn't even close to the egomainac. as mentioned earler, the only headscratcher is why is st pieere still there. good chance that buddy insisted. i may be able to find that out

Skynet, - St Pierres reward for helping land Cianci. Some reward! Cianci I bet, will smoke in studio,
he REAKS of old colone. All St Pierre is really doing is producing Cianci's show. Another demotion.
I don't see Cianci 4 hours a day a year from now.
4 hours is a lonnggg time for a none pro.
Actually, I think any talk show 4 hours long, is one hour TOO long.

What was the one wrong move St. Pierre made to screw his career up at the station? Something has gone terribly wrong for him!
 
EVERYBODY please repeat after me....

Buddy Cianci had a successful show on WHJJ in between his 2 gigs as mayor, so he has experience
Buddy Cianci did not have a co host at the time, so he can host a show on his own
Buddy Cianci is a very charismatic, intelligent individual who could talk to a corpse and have a dialogue with it

He won't be allowed to smoke in the studio...that is what the door off the back stairs on the Trail is for
I wish you all who denegrate him will put your petty hatred for the man behind you and accept that he has a radio career in his past and he had 2, I repeat TWO, stations vying for his services this year, so there are those who think he will do a good job even after spending his time at the Fort Dix Hilton....I know I am about to get replies and quoted responses from WC3434 and alfieradioguy telling me the integrity of the station and building is going to implode on the Trail from the mere presence of Buddy; but face it....some intriguing radio is about to embark on 9/20....

There is no doubt that Buddy has had a successful past in this city. I also personally like the guy. He's got lots of Charisma. That makes him interesting to me. However I feel that his best days are behind him. As interesting a guy as he may be, I don't think he's going to have nearly the amount of pull that he did 20 years ago on HJJ. Out of sight, Out of mind. He's been gone for a while and people have adjusted to life without him. There will be an intial curiosity factor like there was with Depetro. But that's about it. This will not be life changing radio for anybody. Buddy will blend into the landscape and the ratings will probably stay exactly the same as they are right now.

Sky...answer me this...what did the ProJo lead off with top of fold the day he got out of jail & after he got off home confinement? What did EVERY newscast lead with (6, 10 & 12) the day before and day of him getting off of home confinement? Why are his best days behind him? What proof do you have? I'm not making any money on Buddy being on or off of the radio; but can we please be a little honest with ourselves...at the moment, Buddy is going to be like Hannibal coming over the mountains on elephants and I believe he will be the final nails in WHJJ's coffin as the station as a talk station is on it's last legs and will be radically different in 9-12 months....
 
Clearly, Buddy had "it" when he was on 'HJJ during his interregnum period.

He's quick-witted and a top flight political analyst.

The only question is whether he still has "it."

If so, he'll be very entertaining and NOT BORING.

We'll know within the first few weeks.

Oh I'm not doubting that Buddy is making News. That has been his whole appeal for the past 3 years. Buddy the Felon. We live in a society where people will applaud a lynching. Of course he's popular at the moment. He just got out of the old Grey Bar Hotel. People are curious about how he is doing. Once we find out than that's it. He's now one of us again. Not quite as exciting anymore.
 
Oh I think Cianci will be an amazing test as to just how much RIers worship criminals. Fact is Buddy is a 2 time convicted FELON and RACKETEER. He's an X con. It's just that as Mayor , he betrayed the people of Providence. I don't want to hear him. It does upset me that Cianci gets 'rewarded' as soon as he walks out of prison. I wonder just how lazy minded the people here really are? We will find out! Walter.

92, It's very serious, what Cianci and his underlings did. Not something I can get over. I think it is morally outrageous that he be on the air. I know he served his time. I wish him well. I just don't want to hear his pontifications on anything. It's like associating with an X con listening to him. Thats just the way I believe.
I like WPRO, I 'm sad to say between 10 to 2 ,I won't be listening.

hmmmm??? I don't know Walter. I tuned into Martha Stewart's TV show for a bit yesterday. Amazingly I didn't feel like I was associating with an ex Con. But maybe it's just me. ;D
 
You do crack me up! Stewart was not a 2 time convicted felon and a racketeer. By the way, I don't watch her either!! ;D

I don't usually watch her either. I'm a Price Is Right kind of guy. But yesterday she was making felony soup. So I had to tune in.
