Depetro calls out "Seekonk Sally"

It's come to this?

The REAL loser?
The REAL Seekonk Sally.

Not the-person-posting-as "Seekonk Sally."
I mean an actual person, who lives in Seekonk, a REAL important Arbitron Zip Code.

Sally drives an SUV, and several of the kiddos she chauffers-around are her own.
And every piece of clothing she bought 'em 10 months ago doesn't fit any more.
She drives them to school, to soccer games, to Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

And when they're in school, Sally's trek continues. Chores, chores, chores.
And every time she stops that car, she takes money out of her pocket.
Sally is the uber-consumer whose car local retailers PRAY will pull into their parking lot.

That car itself is a-radio-on-wheels.
YOU CANNOT BUY A CAR WITHOUT A RADIO.
She is the high-TSL in-car listener who uses on-air programming "vertically" (daypart-to-daypart) and "horizontally" (same time day-to-day).

And, instead of focusing-OUTWARD on her, obsessing-over making-the-station as-engaging/habit-forming/useful-as-possible, talent's focus is now on taking-INTERNAL squabbles public?

In the words of a late, GREAT program director I knew all-too-briefly, "Can we get back to radio?"

To this real Sally, there's no difference between dead air and no carrier.

She's already hearing dead air (or double audio) often, because machines have replaced the humans that stations used to use to program the transmitter, but can no longer afford. So she's already accustomed to simply-pushing-the-button, tuning-out.

What-happens-next as-a-consequence-of these scary stock prices?
No carrier.
THEY'LL START SHUTTING OFF STATIONS THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO OPERATE.
Because the owners assumed untenable debt, AND those-on-the-front-lines (the on-air people) took their eye off the ball.

Real Sally will, instead, migrate to that information-rich multi-function thing-in-the-pocket we used to call "a cell phone."

Holland,, SOMEDAY, you'll stick to the topic.lol!

It's obviously Ron St pierre . I read some of his previous 'Seekonk Sally' posts.
More fun and rotten GAMES at WPRO.

Ryan.

Oh seriously Holland....

Enough already. Even if you aren't a poster or reader of these boards, the average person smart enough to fill out an Arbitron diary can tell that its a pointed comment to someone who claims to have worked with him.

We all know you had a bad experience with John and that you dislike Paul's direction of the station in general, and the sthick gets more and more tired as the weeks go.

*EDIT-some spelling mistakes

Ron Staint, you have it MADE with Buddy..
Dave Barber, you have it MADE with the State.
Holland, you have it MADE on Block Island and all over the USA..

WHY DO YOU PEOPLE COME HERE AND OTHER PLACES TO BEAT DOWN PEOPLE? !
GUYS! ENJOY your lives!! You have it MADE!! ENOUGH. You're acting like a dropped girlfriend.

There is no way Sally is Ron. Sally's an obvious insider who's been around Providence radio a while but even I can't figure out if it's someone on The Trail or Oxford. I'd bet on Oxford.

Enough about the peanuts. What about THE ELEPHANT?

"We all know" that?
Did I miss a vote?

I like Paul and I love John, and I sign my name here.

My-point above, which seems to elude anonymous denizens here who "LOL" about what's-amiss-INSIDE-a-radio-STATION:
That nonsense comes at-the-expense-of how-people-OUTSIDE-radio -- The Real Sally -- find radio RECEIVERS less-useful as a result.

Good evening from Fargo.

Re: It's come to this?

From Holland Cooke:
What-happens-next as-a-consequence-of these scary stock prices?
No carrier.
THEY'LL START SHUTTING OFF STATIONS THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO OPERATE.
Because the owners assumed untenable debt, AND those-on-the-front-lines (the on-air people) took their eye off the ball.

Holland:

I'm hoping you'll choose to offer a sort of 'cliff's notes' overview on how the economic crisis will specifically affect the way 'the business of radio' gets done in this market.

First......Are we likely to see any station sell-offs in the near term, or perhaps medium-term?

Secondly......Are we likely to start hearing 'the sounds of silence' anywhere on the AM band in these parts anytime soon......especially some of the more marginal operations?

As always, thanks for choosing to drop in on the board and share your thoughts here.

"I'm hoping you'll choose to offer a sort of 'cliff's notes' overview"

MUST-SEE TV: Michael Harrison's session at the NAB Radio Show in Austin.

Just several days ago, daily trades told of an owner shutting off a couple AMs.
For less-dire reasons, AMs have been going dark for a couple years, which owners of Expanded Band AMs agreed-to-do.
(i.e., 1470 in Kalamazoo went to sleep so they could keep 1660.)

My point about real-life Sallies in Seekonk: They are:

1. becoming accustomed to dead air, due to poorly-automated production. So cutting-the-actual-carrier won't be a code blue to 'em. They're already bookmarking web sites and tasking wireless devices for stuff-they-used-to-get-from-radio.

2. becoming less-interested, because when-programming-ISN'T-dead-air, it is unengaging, tedious same-old-same-old; for -- among-other-reasons -- distractions-such-as this thread describes.

Will SOMEBODY on-air HELP/ENGAGE/ENTERTAIN Sally?
Or are we too preoccupied LOL-ing?

Holland , did you highjack the topic to get minds off the Barber - St Pierre meddling in Depetro's career. Like I said before, they all have it made. Why continue to attack another persons livelyhood?

I know when I'M licked!

Hello from the conference room at ABC6.
No, not THAT ABC6.

I suspect that you mean "livelihood;" and "as I said before."

As I try to re-read post #2 in this thread as-though-I-were-someone-else, I still can't infer how what-I-wrote could be construed as you suggest. And I suspect you're not curious about The Big Picture Michael Harrison has described, or 46 cent stock prices, or the historical media consumption change being-ignored-here for-the-sake of anonymous snickering about behind-the-scenes malarkey.

But I know when I'M licked!
So -- sensing that what-I-posted back-on-page-one might be too-hip-for-the-house -- I'll try this once more, then give it up.

Hijack WHAT topic? This is a NON-topic. And it comes at-the-expense-of what matters, that-which-comes-out-the-speaker...discussion-of-which is the most valuable use of this web site. But as I have suggested elsewhere here, and to radio-info.com's owner, who concurs, all this "static" is overhead...a-small-price-to-pay for the meaningful shoptalk that can happen here.

MY point is that we here are more-willing-to filter-out that static than radio listeners' behavior indicates they are.
LOL all you want about artificial intrigue.
What's happening where-the-rubber-meets-the-road (AQH) is impacted by the distraction.
And THAT is, sadly, measurable; and not my opinion.
Whatever becomes of radio will be what-radio-allows-to-happen-to-itself.

From what i understand and have read, it's MR. St Pierre, who is Seekonk Sally. I thought WPRO had a policy of No Posting on Radio boards? I also wonder why MR. St Pierre wants to confuse the WPRO staff situation? Why give MRS. Haynes and MR. Giammarco problems?

Must make for an uncomfortable work enviroment, they cross eachother in the studio coming in and leaving. What time does Depetro stick around until? Is he still there when the Yorkmaster comes in as well? Must be interesting.

No one can prove that Seekonk Sally is indeed St Pierre, and because of that, even if it is, he'll get away scott free.

Look what DePetro got away with, noone else in the industry kept their job after a similar crime. He has the nerve to make threats. Word around town is that his days are very numbered. When was it that his contract EXPIRES ?

DID DEPETRO EDIT OUT HIS SEEKONT SALLY COMMENT? I DON'T SEEM TO SEE IT ANY LONGER. THOUGHT IT WAS NEAR THE DR. PHIL PHOTO.
