Depetro declares War on Yorke!

I suppose John Depetro will be calling Bob Kerr of the Providence Journal to thank him for giving John a way to attack Dan Yorke.
John brought up Kerrs story on his show today, siding, with Kerr..
Just like Imus and the "Nappy headed Hoes" comment. Just like Depetro and the " Fat Lesbo" comment. The main stream local media has decided to go after Yorke for "Retard' comments and Depetro has joined in.
The Pro Jo doesn't like talk radio. Doesn't like Cianci or Dan Yorke. it's quite possible they'll be other stories.
Remember the U.S.S.R.? It seems we're living there. Also seems like Wpro personalities are taking off the gloves against eachother.

I seem to recall Dan Yorke coming back after a commercial break and APOLOGIZING for his comments during that show.
Bob Kerr is typical Projo. He writes an entire column over comments he acknowledges he never heard firsthand.
Concerning Depetro, he's getting whinier as he goes. I suspect he's getting ready to quit. Johnny's jealousy over Yorke and his shows ratings is really getting to him.

I can't imagine that it would be to tough to get a tape of the show. The station tapes them all.

Yorke obviously had a muzzle put on him. Whenever Bob Kerr takes a view different viewpoint from D.Y. he clubs him like an eskimo does a seal. JD must be loving this.

What muzzle?? The ultimate sign of disrespect is ignoring someone.
Kerr and Co. consider yourselves ignored. ;D
And you know Yorke is never going to mention Depetro on his show.
It's killing Johnny that Yorke isn't taking any of the bait.

Sky, those whining about this are not interested in finding out the truth. They want to get their 15 minute whine on and Kooky Kerr gave it to them. Yorke ignoring the whole thing is a checkmate for him. Well then again Dan did use the term "retarded" in his first segment today and then sarcastically made clear what that term means.
It was great!!! Checkmate again!!! :D
If these advocates press the issue then WPRO managment will embarrass them by playing the tape of Dan's apology
made on the show that very day.

ENOUGH TALK HOSTS HAVE BEEN SAVAGED BY POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
This is ALL stupidity!

Well as the intelligent person that I know you are, I'm sure that even you can figure out that Dan's apology was insincere. Dan didn't apologize because he was actually sorry. Dan apologized after mental images of Imus and nappy headed Ho's started floating by.

I don't buy the checkmate bits. This Program Director takes threats to advertisers seriously, as does station management. Dan has too big an ego to let a front page column statewide about him sit idle. If it were his choice he does not posess the ability to remain silent on his own. I believe he was directed to let it slide until the boycott threats settle down.

You are correct. Just by listening to Dan, you can tell that he is a very passionate guy with strong opinions. He doesn't keep quiet about anything unless......

A. He's told by management to do so.
B. He realizes that he crossed the line and better somehow fix it.

Dan may have a certain amount of clout. But He still doesn't have enough clout to be considered untouchable. In todays radio atmosphere where even the heavy hitters like Imus are being fired for saying the wrong thing, NOBODY is untouchable. Citadel would not hesitate to lock Yorke out of the building the instant he becomes a liability.

Are you aware that union and Democratic party minions have actively tried to get Dan's sponsors like Remington House and Navigant CU to drop his show?
Have you noticed Dan avoiding that crowd and those topics? Uh no!!
Come on guys use your heads. Yorke was not silenced by his bosses and most certainly not after Depetro took up Kerr's cause in the morning. There is no real threat of a boycott because Yorke apologized that day for what he said and he meant it. Dan gets his Irish up and uses terminology that he later regrets. This was one such occasion.
All much ado about nothing!! Yorke was not going to give Depetro or Kerr the satisfaction of responding to their blatantly obvious attempy to goad him into a public tiff.

Talk of a boycott is what is retarded. There are bigger things to worry about in this day & age in this state (including funding for these special interest groups) so they should direct their energies in making sure they are around next year on a financial standpoint before taking up the torches & pitchforks against a stupid remark. Salvation Army, United Way, Red Cross are all crying the need for additional donations at this point and seeing as some of the groups get part of their funding from the State and part from charitable donations, put the efforts where they need to be maximized because there might not be a next year.....

I agree. I think hosts should be able to say whatever they want. If they think someone is retarded, than I think they should be able to call them retarded. What's the problem? That is their opinion..... and I like knowing exactly how the host feels. I'm not a fan of censorship at all! People are much to sensitive these days as they look for any excuse to either sue somebody (or) to get them lynched. It's very sad that we can longer speak our minds without some freak using it as an opportunity to give us a hard time about it. It makes me ill. Get over it already. It's just talk.

Granted, I didn't hear the comment, but the assumptive political correctness crowd turn everything into a disaster. If he called someone "retarded", it is assumed he means "mentally retarded" and is associating the person to be equal to a mentally retarded person and all its negative conotations.

I would have apologized if people took it wrong, but also informed the people that there are other legit usages of "retarded" They shouldn't allow the politically correct to make them afraid to use a word in its correct context. People's ignorance of the English language is a shame. People allowing the hyper-sensitive politically correct crowd to dictate their lives is a shame. Management not willing to stand behind their crew...pitiful.

I'd like to see WPRO go nuclear on the P.C. Pro Jo.
That paper protects Illegal Aliens, Goes after Law enforcement, loves Unwed Mothers.
Bob Kerr has NO PROBLEM with people publicly burning the American Flag, yet say a P.C. incorrect
word like 'retard' and you need to be killed. Imagine Kerr not even hearing the show. Writing a story on it.
This man should be FIRED, not Yorke.

Is there even one person here who hasn't called someone retarded? Whenever someone acts like an idiot you call them retarded. We all know the lingo. Everyone knows what it means when someone says it to you. The word probably has a dual meaning in the dictionary by now. People freak at the smallest things.

I think Howard Stern gets on the air and calls someone retarded at least once a day. I don't know why people don't freak when he says it. Maybe they do. He's just smart enough to not care.

I went to catholic school, my education was retarded because they didn't offer the variety of courses I needed to succeed at the next level of my education. (do you think with this use of the word, I am going to be in trouble?)

If the Dedarians didn't use the foam, the fire at the Station nightclub would have been retarded (Oops...there I go again)

Bob Kerr has no place in commenting on something he didn't see/hear first/second hand....3rd person accounts are hearsay in court, shouldn't be allowed in journalism (what happened to 3 CREDIBLE sources!?!)

Matt is ranting right now on the lay down the media did today at the PC press conference the latin community had about the suicide of the person after they busted the father of the first baby of the year....why do I have a bad feeling Bob Kerr is lining up to talk about it tomorrow in his column (which inevitably will lead to some conversation after the mess in NH is settled out from today's primary).

Amen! There should be no reason why a talk-show host should be forced to be so niggardly with his words.

And no more references to "crippling" snowstorms. Honestly, if you go out of your way not to call me retarded, does it make me any smarter?
