DePetro was fired for his ratings. WRKO kept Mike Savage who told a gay male something far worse.
I wrote to Grace Ross and to WRKO and the Ross people got back to me. My letter stated it plainly,
RKO got rid of John DePetro because for three years he has not been able to develop a following in
Boston. Radio, they say on the Boston board, "is a business." DePetro would've been given a ten
year contract if a joke about Matt Amorello or Grace Ross got him ratings - bet on it.
It was his own inept, bungling failed radio program that got he and his producer axed. Horrible radio.
He is now whining:

The Gay Mafia swung into action, next day, SAVAGE GONE.

DR. Laura helped get Congress to condemn ILGA ( International Lebian Gay Assoc)
ILGA then went after DR Lauras TV and Radio shows. Targeting the stations and sponcers.
Channel 64 had Tim McGee from the Green Party and a dozen members picking outside the station..

If anything I would think WPRO before WHJJ again. Although I can see him doing some filling in.
I think WRKO was looking for a reason to let John go. and this oppertunity fell in thier lap.As stupid as it is.
A cool down johney talk may have been a little bit more appropriate than getting fired.

There is no gay "mafia". There is no NAAQP - National Association for the Advancement of Queer People.
There are gay factions who are in your face, but it is hardly as organized as people want to believe.
There is no organization like the NAACP, or the RIAA (for the Record Industry) or other strength-in-numbers
organizations which could really do a whammy on a Mike Savage and get him off the air.
Free Speech is important, till it crosses the line and people get hurt, like Matthew Shepherd. Savage pushes that envelope. DePetro's "F..Lesbian" and "F...Matt" comments were not as egregious, which means they
absolutely pushed him overboard due to poor ratings. The fact that DePetro hired an attorney and is
shocked that he was removed for an ugly comment (though not as sinful as comments made by his former colleagues at Entercom) says that he doesn't realize what truly happened: HE HAD AWFUL RATINGS - don't let the door hit you on the way out, John! He was on thin ice and jumped up and down on it till he fell through and quickly found himself sinking to the bottom...south...back to a tiny market from whence he came.
