DePetro suspended (again)

So what. He called a guy a F A G. Howard Stern does that every day. Why it's suddenly such as big deal to use that word is beyond me. CBS allowed Archie Bunker to use the word on National TV back in 1972. But now we can't use the word on a little local radio in 2006? What is this? Are we going backwards in time? It's so silly.
 
The show, Queer Eye for the Straight guy.
The word F.A.G. is used 20 times a show.
Any word about a Gay or a Black, The Government can now say 'HATE SPEECH'.
The 1 st Amendment is now ONLY for Gays , Blacks, ans Hispanics.

I can't name one station that's honestly decent in the market. Except HJY.
The others are just sad imitations of Boston stations.
 
Deptro was a better host when he was here. He hasn't found his footing in Boston, his ratings remain flat. He comes off being cheesy more often than not, and the name-calling the other day reinforced the emptiness of his approach. Lots of noise, not much content.
 
I agree. Depetro was a perfect fit for Rhode Island. But in Boston Depetro never quite fit in. This has shown that he would very likely fail in he ever tried to syndicate his show Nationally. Depetro's program is highly dependent on discussing City Politics in a city that he knows well. A place where he knows all the team players in goverment. Unfortunately he has proven that he's not very successful at adapting to a new city. I personally loved him in Rhode Island and hope he returns to a local station. You are absolutely correct. He has just never been able to find his footing in Boston.

so did this kind of thing (being suspended) happen down in Prov.? First time it's happened to him while in Boston IIRC. Was called a shock jock in Boston papers (yep, him and Howard Stern! Shock Jock! Of course same papers
will refer to him, at least in headline, as a "DJ". Hey cats it's DJ Cranston Johnny D, spinnin' the platters
that matter! Request line now open!)
 
Trust me..... Depetro is no Shock Jock. There is nothing shocking about what he does. He just speaks his mind. I don't have a problem with that. I never remember him being suspended for anything in Providence. It appears that Entercom is just looking for an excuse to get rid of him. I think he could call anyone a F A G down here in Providence without a problem. For some reason Boston seems a lot more sensitive.
 
you're right about the shock jock terminology. And correct that Boston is more sensitive. But wrong I think about Entercom looking for an excuse to get rid of him - he's supposed to be back on today.
