John Depetro, The man to save the day, rught?
The guy that 'star callers' like Tony of Narragansett and Peter Anthony of Cranston' say will save R.I.s day has admitted in todays Pro jo , he's lost his stomach for the hard radio wars.
So, for the week just past, Depetro found the Imus situation 'funny'. Everything about it was a 'joke' for Depetro. Then on Friday, Depetro got alittle backbone. After Imus was done.
I thought Depetro was going to make a big difference in R.I. too. I was and am so wrong.
The real hosts, who haven't been recked by the left yet are Yorke and Allen. I would advise them both,, DO NOT say Fat Lebian or *** Matt. You will end your careers as Depetro did.

Agreed!! Johnny D has lost an edge but what's even more apparent is his lack of depth in tackling these larger societal issues. Dan Yorke put John Depetro to shame this week. Yorke has been in-depth and on fire with his commentary about the broader issues involving the Imus firing. Depetro has been all shallow fluff.....until Friday. You are so right when you say Depetro's tone changed on Friday but that only makes him seem weak and shallow. Another thing that bothers me about Depetro is he doesn't have conversations with his callers. They're allowed 5 words then either get talked over or are dismissed because they don't agree with him. Depetro has been a big letdown. Give me Matty Allen 5 days a week. If only WHJJ would get their act together. There is an audience who'd like some other voices heard.
 
Perhaps a unified response. Dan Yorke was saying something about that on his Friday show.
From what I hear, both P.D. s at WPRO and WHJJ are nervous people. The future maybe for Dan, Helen, John, and Matt; Don't do this, Don't do that, play it safe, when in doubt don't do it, or ask..
I think I'd rather hang myself.
I hope somebody comes up with something, cause the Rev. AL Sharpton just sank talk radios Battleship!
 
The reason the HJJ PD is worried because he is dependnet upon SOOOO much syndicated talk and has loose cannons on those shows...to a lesser point, so does the PRO PD....
 
I agree, but, with the low lifes like Sharpton and Jackson, and I will also admit I think the Democrats also had a strong part in the assination of Imus. I mean H. Clinton, Imus made no bones he hated her.

We need new blood in the Democratic and Republican Parties. I am so disgusted with the Dems and clinton, ,one of the rappers had an 800,000 fund raiser for her, and you know who controls the purse strings Redstone. I do see a connection. I know should not be political, but, this ,I think does tie in with the Imus mess.

I've spoken to N.Y. people in the know , Sumner Redstone who owns CBS - ViaCom, MTV, VH - 1 , BET, and about half the media, is best friends with Hillary and Bill.

Tony, remember what Imus was doing everyday for several months; bashing and I mean BASHING Hillary!
Some Examples are,, H.C. is a Lebian. Donna Shalaila and Janet Reno were her 'b.i.t.c.h.s' , H.C. was a filty old Witch, H.C. was Evil. H.C. was Satan and was a little Hitler.
Now Imus was doing this pretty much EVERY DAY. Good Old Imus was WARNED to leave Hillary alone. He DIDN'T. They looked for the 1st thing they could to nail him. Sharpton and Jackson, again, closest to Bill Clinton did the dirty work.
And now Imus is GONE.
Since this Imus thing began, no less than 5 higher ups from Texas, to N.Y. have told me it's Hillary.
If you noticed, Hillary has been going after Imus as a Racist, ever since Thursday. She is meeting with the Rutgers Team!
Bill Clinton got a big group of Black Children and made an hour speech about Imus and Racism in America.
And NO ONE in the Main Stream Press will raise an eyebrow.
Hillary Clinton isn't even President and Talk Radio has been clubbered. Imagine what the future will bring with her in it.

I hope Holland Cooke will comment on the 'inside ball' of the Imus assassination. thanks.
 
The future is now on the internet. It seems to be the one place where you won't be censored. Podcasts are only about to get much bigger. Radio may never die..... but I think it's on a ventilator right now.

Here in Las Vegas, the conjoined NAB2007 and RTNDA conventions officially kick-off tomorrow. But beginning yesterday, NAB's "Podcasting Summit" is packing 'em in. Enthused attendees and accomplished speakers swapped ideas about this exciting new platform, in a conversation that had the buzz radio conventions USED to.

Clinton and Imus

Thanks, I guess I am psychic. I had this awful feeling when I heard the banter between Bernie and Imus the morning of the remarks. I usually change the radio station as I do not like the Naggin bit or at times the Cardinal Egan bit, but, for some reason, I , once again had a really strange feeling. I mentioned it to my husband even before others came out with the theory. I also wonder if this was intentional, in other words a pay off to Bernie and Sid Rosenberg.

It came all together too fast. Also, my disposition , would lend me to exclude children with sickle cell from the camp, let the two others so more for research and camp programs. I know, I do have a vindictive streak in me.
 
Yep, Imus always comments on what he sees on TV. By the way, those girls were on NATIONAL TV. People are defending them as if Imus were peaking at a private game. When youre on National TV you should take the good with the bad with the exposure.
This may backfire on the Clintons. Imus has friends too, lots of them
Hillary is probably one of the most cold hearted , vicious people to ever run. I know Imus was pointing this out, all the time. I believe Imus will be back. Any thoughts on were he could or can go?
 
I saw depetro twice on Fox news channel last week, saw him on ch 10 and ch 12 and I think I saw his name in the projo everyday. I liked his stories about being on the Imus show and was glad he was honest about it. I listen everyday and think he by far the best in this state.
What world are some of you people living in? As far as Matty doing talk, he would never leave kiss 108...
 
Matty has the best morning show in the area. He's naturally funny! It's a world of morning Zoos out there where everyone laughs way to hard at things which arn't even amusing. That is the phony side of Radio which I hate. Matty isn't like that at all. The guy is genuine and in my opinion you won't find a better morning show within our listening range.
 
You all realize when Matt is being mentioned, it isn't Matty in the morning from Kiss 108; but rather Matt Allen P/T talker at WPRO and Dan Yorke producer, right?

Matty had his attempt to syndicate and unfortunately it fell flat because he was too Boston centric and not relatable to the other markets/stations that picked him up (Hot 106 here in RI). Matty is fine for Boston; but he didn't have the ratings in the other markets. Would Matty have the same ratings at Jamn, no...wrong format and if I remember correctly, the only Top 40 station that was his network was Kiss....and I agree, he would NOT work as a talk host without some help
 
Do you think really that DePetro is doing ok. He's still boring and now even more so since he's been fired once.
Matty Allen is the guy...he's funny, smart and just a great guy with old fashioned values. He makes a great back up for the 'dan" of talk radio.

I hope when Matty get just a little more experienced he'll be fantastic.

Not that I listen that much, but as far as DePetro we're not living in an age where radio personalities (talk or otherwise) have cart blanc. It was obvious from WPRO's statement about DePetro toning things down since he's working at the station carrying on Salty's tradition that he was going to deliver a show according to the station's expectations. That's the way things are. You play ball or you buy WALE & do what you want. Don't blame any personality for not living up to any listener's expectations.

Matt doesn't call himself MATTY Allen. This is where the confusion takes place. When I hear the name Matty, I do not think of Matt Allen. I think of the guy who actually calls himself Matty. The guy from KISS 108.
