DePetro vs. Scotto

I had a friend mention this to me. Depetro got FIRED and has gotten himself back on-air within 2 months with the new job at WPRO. Scott Allen Miller has known since September he was losing the morning show, had management calling people and trying to help him, had morning drive in Boston for 3 1/2 years, and STILL cannot get a new job in radio! Imagine if Scotto had been fired. He will not land anywhere on the air. It is sad if he really thought RKO was going to help him land something. I notice on his blog he mentions"He will see what God has planned for him". Give me a break. Now it is God's fault. I would tune int to hear JD before 9 and hear Scotto say" I will be back tommorrow God willing". Again with the God thing. He is unlikeable, and he destroyed the RKO morning show. God Bless Peter Blute for putting up with him. I guess he is not the next Gerry Williams like he said he was. What does it say about RKO that nobody wants their morning man of almost 4 years? Maybe now he can focus on his band full time lol.
 
evil? Are you joking or serious? I have heard other people mention this . I have never heard anyone in radio described in that way.
I saw him on TV a few times and he seemed ...............normal.
 
Anyone know where SAM was before he came to Boston? What Top 20 markets he worked at before he came here? Did he work his way up the market ladder?

I assume that if a once-major station like WRKO hired him for a key daypart, he must have been a success somewhere else.

Anyone know?
 
Scott Allen Miller has something John DePetro does not have: talent.

SAM's problem was that he morphed into the kind of talk show host that Julie & Jason (allegedly) demanded he be...allegedly...that's the word on the street. Had someone at RKO had the stones to truly be "independent", the station would not be so useless. They are all a bunch of zombies except for Carr; Carr is even worse, he's a parody of himself. The Bulger thing has worn thin and that was his best card to play.

it's useless because it's on am where it competes against wbz and weei.
it's useless because it runs sports instead of local talk at night.
it's useless becaues it's run by sports radio people, not radio people.
it's useless because am radio is dead end city for people 55+.
 
Mike Elder, former RKO PD liked what he heard and recruited SAM from WGY 810 AM, Albany NY. SAM not a bad guy behind the scenes. It was obvious he tried to hard to be agumentative on air. Maybe if he was allowed to be himself on air, he would have attracted a more loyal listenership. He's young. Hopefully SAM learns from this experience and becomes better for it.
 
Is this a joke? WRKO hired a guy from market 63 to be the morning drive guy at a heritage station in a Top 10 (or 11, depending on the month) market?

I assume that SAM was number one with a bullet 25-54 in Albany.

Then again, looking at his ratings in Boston, maybe not.
 
exactly. What time was he on in Albany? How long was he there? I heard 3-5P in the afternoon was the slot. They take a guy from market 63 and put him in mornings alone and he bombs for 3 years.

he wasn't alone at first. he would eat bluto's donuts and muffins every morning. i can't say he was a major improvement over ozone but at least he didn't spit into the mic.
 
You should check the ratings. AM drive on WRKO has been up since Entercom dumped Peter Blute and the nightmarish Boston This Morning format while at the same time John DePetro's numbers went down.

Actually, WRKO's numbers 25-54 in the morning have been flat since Fall '05. Up one ranking year to date(even with a strong election year fall book) and still losing to EEI, BZ and TKK.

where did you get these numbers? where can I see them? This is a lie and is fiction. Everyone knows Scotto went down every book.

RKO never dumped Blute, his deal was up. There is no way on earth Scotto's numbers went up or they would have kept him.
Miller has known since September he was not being renewed and he still could not find a job. A morning man in Boston, who nobody wants.
Do you know why? Because he is unlikeable and a fraud.

he is a whiner and a downer. you can't sell yourself as a talk show host by whining to your audience every time you open your mic. he was a blimp and a wimp all in one.
