DePetro wants his job back!

Trying to remember if D&C's Metco controversy was their "first offense"...DePetro had a previous incident
and was warned about it. He has claimed he said nothing the FCC would call offensive but Wolfe has said
the WAY DePetro said it (his "tone") made a difference.

Consider that DePetro, as one of the local papers pointed out, also drew controversy over some anti-gay
remarks in March--in that big advertiser Harvard Pilgrim Health Care asked that their spots be withdrawn
from his show. WRKO complied. So you have that, the Amorello comment, and the Ross comment--
as far as WRKO was concerned (the new Sox flagship), THREE strikes and he's out.

We'll see...If he doesn't make it back onto WRKO I wonder if WTKK would be interested.

DePetro has a petition to "get me back on the air" on his site. There's a pic of John Belushi from Animal House:
"Did you say over? NOTHING is over till we say it is!"...Though maybe at some point Bluto Blutarski will go up
to John and tell him the same thing he told Flounder: "My advice to you...is to start drinking heavily..."

If you see DePetro dumping 10,000 marbles in front of...oh, OK. That's enough :)

He sounded good in a recent NECN interview with Jim Braude ... they could do a show together.

DePetro should only get his job back if his engineer/producer Jimmy Cooke comes back too.

If Cooke becomes the scapegoat I would hope that John would have the testicular fortitude to tell them they can keep the job.

Actually, I think John is far better on television than radio.

NECN or the like should hire him even if he goes back on RKO.

But both DePetro and Cooke should come back or no deal.

Those on this board who don't stoop to reading the Herald may not know this (because it only appeared
in the Herald's Inside Track and not the Globe, as far as I know--luckily we're a two newspaper town). Seems DePetro was invited to be a part of Ch 4's
election coverage. After the Ross controversy, he was dis-invited. He was mentioned on the first
press release about Ch 4's coverage but not the second.

John DePetri is going through denial over his situation. Soon he'll accept it, and hopefully move on. But enough of these news conferences by his attorney.

What is the point?

When will WRKO go after extra special talent? The stuff on Air America and Jones Radio Network - forget which side of the political spectrum you are on - contains the professional elements that are missing on RKO. WBZ gets it with Paul Sullivan. What happened to the days when talk radio would go and buy talent - give Sullivan an offer he can't refuse. Sure, bring Gene Burns back. Jay Diamond was quick on his feet. A little bit of cleverness and wit. RKO is a broken record in dire need of reinvention.

You're dealing with idiots Joe. Don't expect anything creative out of them and you will never be disappointed.
