Deters To WQRT

The 1160 licensed to Florence will always be subject to interfering skywave, and have marginal coverage during fringe daytime hours. It's protective area for nighttime coverage doesn't reach Covington. It's not just Chicago you deal with. You can put all the copper you want in the ground, you can't change physics. It wasn't meant to service northern subs in Cinti. It's a northern KY channel. Always will be.

A translator won't make much difference for what we hear on 1160. I like Dennis Miller, but it's pretty poor audio coming through my speaker. Not sure what happened but sounds like the station is broadcasting through a shower stall. Like cheap sounding reverb. Clean up your audio and maybe you can cut through the static up here in the north.

WLW has crapped up the highest fidelity station ever with that digital noise, and 55 sounds like a buzz saw...so 1160 has competition for some of the worst audio.

Sad.

I am afraid that the audio is going to be light until we get a few things swapped out.
The appropriate parts were ordered a couple of days ago and will be installed ASAP.
Then, the audio will sound different.
We'll also match the networks.

There is a light reverb going on as we found out that it helps talk stations with the PPM. CC is using it in a few markets with good results.

Munn Reese did a study on the NIF. It changed, in theory, with the new WYLL facility. It reaches a couple more miles north.

I'll have to dig it out as its been a while.

I think it's amusing when guys get canned from a format dominator like WLW and think they're going to go to second-rate signal like WQRT & beat their former station. One look at the ratings will tell them otherwise. No sampling error is large enough to explain the difference!

Aren't you putting words in someone's mouth?

I hadn't heard anyone say that they thought that this would be WLW's undoing or that they'd get a spanking in the ratings.

jry. You are fast becoming the gatherer Cincinnati area lost souls.

Next, you'll be bringing Jerry Tarkanian in to run the place.

1160/WUNLV?

;D

Tark the Shark, kicking butt and taking names!
You bring up another point..... With all of the new LP's and such, when will we start seeing 5 letter calls?

Deters was popping off about how he was going to do that.

The gold standard of talk radio with reverb is NJ 101.5...

Technically, we already have stations with six-character calls - translators!

How are Deters' numbers looking so far? Here's hoping QRT is able to reel in more big name advertisers like the Dairy Queen in Batavia.

Thanks for giving me a good morning laugh. Very hearty, as a matter of fact.
BTW, welcome to the board. I noticed that this is your 4th comment.
Good health, success in your next venture and prosperity to you!

I've noticed that the bank accepts checks from the Dairy Queen in Batavia just as easily as checks from P&G. Amazing how that works. ;-)

Yes, to disparage good, honest business people like that isn't nice.
DQ has a great product. Heck, try to get a real malt, somewhere else.

Zing!

My son is opening a lemonade stand this weekend, and we may combine that with a garage sale. How much for some spots?

Funny guy.

Hey, in Detroit (early to mid 80's) we carried a paid program called "ask your neighbor". Hosted by Bob Alison. I say carried but they paid us over 10 grand a month for an hour.

Anyways is was a great forum for that kind of stuff. He was always loaded with advertisers. Its still on the air, BTW.
Does anyone in Cincy do this?
