Detroit now feels "The Beat"...

Now this is what a Rhy Hot AC should sound like. Kudos to this outfit in Detroit. They are sounding great! Great mix from the 80s, 90s and 00s. Mainstream dance/r&b/hip-hop. Great format!

judging by what I've listened to over the last hour and their website... I'm thinking Clear Channel is boxing up a format of KTU in NY right down to the taglines... "The beat of..." and "music that makes you feel good!" Though the playlist is a little broader right now, that could have to do with being 10,000 songs commercial free to launch.

Too much Disco for me, but I didnt really listen for long. Life is too short and the net is too full to waste time listening to bad radio. I give the station kudos for trying this format here, Kinda reminds me of how DRQ was when they went rhythmic Ac before going current dance,,, then to rhythmic Dance, and finally mainstream chr.

the only movin stations I like are San Fransiscos and Phoenix's, and both lean CHR POP.

I thought I'd chime in here. I am a suburban Detroit native who now lives on the west side of Michigan but visits Detroit fairly regularly. 106.7 The Beat is one of my favorite stations in Detroit. Unfortunately, it's not as good now as it was back in September '09 when they first debuted. I loved how they played a lot of dance/pop hits from the '90s (including awesome songs like "Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark, "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust, "Baby Baby Baby" by TLC, "Love You Down" by INOJ", and so on). They also used to play more great songs from the early '00s like "One More Time" by Daft Punk. Not so much anymore. :(

Over the past several months, they have been acting a lot more like a Top 40 station that throws in a few disco or '80s/'90s songs once in a while. They play way too many current hits in their efforts to compete with 95.5/WKQI and 98.7/WVMV.

Same exact situation here in ATL with GROOVE 105.7's music. I must admit they have it tough going against the Urbans/Urban AC (4) and Pop(3) stations.
