Detroit Radio Ratings: June 2013

Detroit: http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb011

Overall age 6+ publicly released data for subscribing stations is for the June 2013 survey period covering Thu. 5/23/13-Wed. 6/19/13.
Next survey period will be July 2013 (covering Thu. 6/20/13-Wed. 7/17/13) with the data release date being Tue. 8/6/13.

The 'J' people are up at their cottages and the hillbillies are stuck in town.

I'd love to see the demos for WRIF when they're out tomorrow. I'm betting the ratings didn't fall off as much because of gains in 18-34.

BIG jump for Young Country. Significant drop for WWJ, but I doubt the shift was directly from WWJ to WYCD. This almost seals the deal, I think, that 93.1 will flip to NASH-FM on Labor Day. WRIF was steady, but I doubt the shift from D&M to D&C is fully accounted for and the demographic shift isn't available in these numbers, if indeed one exists.

WCSX had a slight uptick, that could be indicative of D&M listeners looking for a new home. WMGC was flat ahead of a potential flip to Sports.

Significant drop for 106.7. Did their listeners flock to WRIF for the new morning show perhaps? Speaking of Sports, WDFN and WXYT-AM were tied, and flat at a 0.3. Both are below where WXYT-AM was with talk last year. Makes me think that even if Rush doesn't flip, WDFN should add Beck, Ingraham and clear FSR overnight and only in certain dayparts.

If WMGC does flip, CC would be smart to shift WNIC back to more of a straight AC format and they will CLEAN UP in December as I doubt that WOMC will go all Christmas much before mid December.

Some very subtle shifts last month, but I have a feeling that July will show more of a shakeout.

Drew and Mike were still on WRIF during part of this ratings period.

Next month will be the best indicator. Note that CSX went up a tick.

Cumulus has to be salivating at the numbers WYCD is pulling. WDRQ goes to NASH on Labor Day weekend. It's going to happen.

An all-syndicated Nash will fail in Detroit. Syndicated morning show, syndicated night show, syndicated overnight show. Is there more to come?

You could be right, as CC failed when they flipped 1-6.7 to Country and then reversed it.

However, Cumulus does seem to have put together a morning show of Country Pros, and a pretty good music mix.

It's a chance to cut into WYCD's big ratings with very little risk so I think it'll happen.
