Nice recovery for WMGC!

950 WWJ's 6+ share has tanked. I wonder where they stand in A25 to 54 and how that performance compares to prior surveys?

WWJ ranked 18th in May in P25-54... so far this year, it's ranked 15th, 17th, 15th, 18th, 18th.
Going back to the start of 2021, it has ranked no better than 14th, and no worse than 20th.

Even with its so-so ratings, my guess is that WWJ is among the highest billing stations in the market. It may skew old and young people may have little patience for an All-News station. But All-News seems to bill very well. Four All-News outlets are among the top 11 billing stations in that recent chart: WTOP Washington, WBBM Chicago, WINS New York and WCBS New York.

The question is, will Audacy need to find an FM simulcast for WWJ as the AM band increasingly declines?

I’ve always assumed alternative is keeping 98.7 warm until they put a WWJ simulcast on it. It’s not going to improve the demos (which keep getting older with each passing day) but it may stop the bleeding for a while. If they’re doing that poorly 25-54 though, not sure why they’ve waited unless 98.7’s younger demographic on a lower cost (to run) station brings in a revenue stream Audacy doesn’t want to give up. All news may bill well in a lot of markets but it’s also not cheap to run.
