(Nice to have a Detroit board now!)I was just wondering what people thought of Detroit Radio overall. Good, bad, ok? What are your thoughts? How does WOMC sound as an oldies station? How is the competition between WNIC and Magic?Discuss :)

I listened to Magic back in November while riding from the airport to Saginaw and they sounded pretty good. Didn't listen to much anything else until the signal started running out around Flint. A station like Magic fits Detroit very well.

Like the sound of WCSX and you can't beat Dick Purtan on any day of the week. WDRQ is interesting- don't LOVE it but it's definitely a pre-set.

What! You don't have your radio locked onto your own station!!!!!!

That doesn't seem very professional.

On the contrary, Realist. The key to staying ahead in this business is to know what your competitor is doing and then finding a way to make their 'idea' even better so that it works to your advantage. Sales reps listen to competing stations all the time (for ad leads, obviously). So should talent. The idea is not to copy your competitor, but to get some new ideas that you can build upon for the future.
