Detroit's Ticket Makes History

Radio-Info.com

"This is the first time a sports station has been #1 in a top 20 market since Entercom’s WEEI did it in Boston in 2005 – and ratings historian Chris Huff says it’s the first time an all-sports station has been #1 in any Arbitron PPM market. CBS Radio flipped then-young talk station WKRK-FM (97.1) to sports in late 2007 in a simulcast with WXYT-AM (1270) and the results have continued to flower. The “Ticket” combo has grown from 4.7 (March) to 5.3 (April) to 6.5 (May, age 6+ AQH share in Arbitron). The NHL Red Wings' run to the Stanley Cup no doubt helped WXYT pass previous #1 WJLB, the Clear Channel urban station that moved 5.8-5.5 from April to May. WJLB’s now tied with oldies WOMC (5.3-5.5) for third place behind hot AC WDVD (5.4-5.6)."
