Developing News - Chuck Benfer to leave ABC

Changes at abc...most likely for the better from what I'm hearing...ideas? thoughts if you know...?

oh yes---they will be happening by the end of this week from what i hear

Re: Guess what's changing now...

I'll take a stab at this...Marissa will be named PD. Suzie Garcia will be named midday goddess...She's really good...

Re: Guess what's changing now...

According to one of the higher up personalities, "Sucks" - they texted. I'm waiting for more details...This can't be good.

I remember Benfer put Magic on 590, and changed 100.9 to the failed Bridge... could we end up with Magic 104.9 in the near future? Cat's not going anywhere against GNA as it is...

From this mornings RAMP: An intrastate move is in the works for Chuck Benfer, who's heading back to his old stomping grounds of Poughkeepsie, NY as the Clear Channel's new Market Manager there. Benfer comes down the New York State Thruway from Albany, NY, where he's been managing Albany Broadcasting's group there, but is well-versed in properly spelling "Poughkeepsie," since he ran Cumulus' cluster there for many years. He takes over for Brett Beshore, who was named Market Manager of the Year at the NAB Radio Show back in September and subsequently rewarded with a promotion to Division President for Clear Channel Outdoor's Indianapolis division. "After 23 years in radio, I decided to move into outdoor -- nothing like going out on top," Beshore tells RAMP. "Chuck is a good guy and a Poughkeepsie resident, so he's the perfect choice to succeed me and continue the CC/Poughkeepsie winning ways."

Here's some fodder for the radio rumor mill: Will Bob Ausfeld come out of retirement to become the new VP/GM at 6 Johnson Rd?

I could see the meeting now between Ausfeld amnd Morrell, with him telling Morrell, "$how meeee the moooney!!!! :)

I vote for Mark Vanness for the GM spot!

Benfer will probably take his sidekick Rob VanDerbeck with him to Poughkeepsie to run Sales, so ABC might be minus a Director of Sales as well.

this should be interesting to see who takes over as GM , changes are surely happening in the radio biz here in the capital region, it's no surprise that marissa will take the PD Spot and Suzie will stay on midday.

i like that response reporter mark vanness would do great I mean alot of us are either waiting to get back in or are totally fed up at this point with the radio companies in this region.

I am a big fan of B95.5 love there Christmas music

Mark, I wish you well. I do think if you had a different co-host, things would be different for u at Crush. Did you ever check out that lead at Star 1057?

One of our reps upstate heard Townsquare was considering including Suzy Garcia in the live line up on Crush. Has anyone got confirmation of this? The station she was on in the Hudson Valley was anemic and did not produce much cume but she was very consistent as far as ratings/TSL.

Word is Crush is going to compete head to head with Fly in 2012. Does anyone know if this is true?

Personally, I think Suzie IS one the best female personalities in this area...She's got the whole package, sounds great, sexy, humorous, very cute...

As far as going head to head with Fly, why not? They too have a powerful signal, they have one of the best management teams in Austin and O'Donnell...Me, I would go Top 40 with the flair of the 90s...I think their rating plunged big time due to no personalities. I know I have listened less. IMO. Come back fresh with personalities. The only DJ I would bring back is Darwin.
