Devil Rays on 1270 WNLS Tallahassee

So I tune in mistakenly tonight to hear the Noles baseball team (they are off tonight though) and am surprised to hear the Yankees-Rays game on 1270 The Team. I know it is a Clear Channel station, the Rays pay to be on CC's WHNZ in Tampa, but is this deal now being extended?

Even though I am a Marlins fan, it is nice to hear MLB Baseball in Tallahassee....even if it is the Devil Rays. At least it is not the Braves....Atlanta's radio network needs to stay on their side of the FL-GA border.

Now...will someone up here please carry the Marlins? I know many would like to hear them as Comcast Tallahassee only shows 95 games on FSN Florida.

It is nice when 1450 WTAL airs the Dolphins as they did in 2005 and 2006. There is a market for the Dolphins and Marlins up here. Hopefully someone notices and acts like WTAL did with the Fins. ;D

I believe you'll hear more Rays' games throughout Florida in the upcoming seasons. From everyone I speak with that knows baseball, Tampa Bay is primed to have a very exciting team in the future. The offense is there with young players who are getting noticed throughout MLB. The pitching is suspect so far, but, if the team doesn't have more fire sales, this should be a good team soon.

If TB plays .500 ball this season, you'll have more stations jumping on the Rays' bandwagon.

Rays had a huge network when they started, it seems like they have gotten their radio network automated and made it so affiliates can carry games.

I know they are using Skyview Satellite to deliver and automate their network as the Marlins and Lightning are. But I found it interesting the Rays have all these Clear Channel affiliates now. I was just wondering if Clear Channel was doing this as an extension of the Rays time buy on WHNZ or if each station is actually doing this of their own will.

Here's a list of the Rays Radio Network back in 1998 when they came into the American League: http://groups.google.com/group/alt.sports.baseball.tb-devilrays/msg/8d0ad2594de7fb37

Check your cable's public access channel. Here there on channel 6 (why, i don't know) it's a 'RAYS TV" feed.

Also, XM has exclusive rights for baseball, too.
