Dexter on CBS

The past 2 Sundays I have watched Dexter on CBS. I find it interesting to see a Showtime program aired on a broadcast network. This week I noticed the Showtime promo banner appear several times during the show. Why is CBS airing and promoting a Showtime program? Did they buy the rights to it to fill in for lost programming due to the writer's strike? I wonder if they are showing all of season 1?

Indeed, CBS dipped into the internal well as a result of the writer's strike. You may recall CBS also operates several other cable networks, including MTV, which produced the halftime show of Super Bowl XXXVIII on CBS...

Synergy, baby!
