The Dickeys likely response: Blame Rush! Blame Rush!

I wonder how low the numbers will go when they fill Rush's time slot with Huckabee. #CumulusFail

Will someone with daypart access give us a summary of what happened on KSKY with Mark Davis. Looks like 660 lost a few listeners in June during the largest billboard push in the stations history. Hopefully Davis's daypart spiked. I have trouble believing PPM readings if 660 didn't get a morning increase.

Keep in mind, this includes only about 2 weeks of Davis being on the air. I mistakenly thought these month by month ratings were from the 1st to the 30th when I speculated on what KSKY might get.

I'm not sure 660 has done all that good a job letting Mark's fans know where he is. Case in point: he had a bunch of callers a few weeks ago who only found out he was back on the air after seeing him on Fox 4's Good Day program before the healthcare decision was announced.

That doesn't surprise me too much. I have yet to see one of the billboards here in Tarrant County - and only one of the billboards in Dallas County. My guess is there are many tens of thousands of people whose activities do not take them past the billboards on a regular basis - and of those who do go by, a good number probably do not pay that much attention to billboards.

What they ought to do is try some Gordon McLendon-esque tactics. For example, Davis could go on the air and say that, in order to celebrate how happy he is to now be on KSKY, he and KSKY have placed crisp, new $100 bills inside the pockets of select pairs of men's and women's pants at dozens of area Wal-mart and Target stores. Very interesting and amusing results would soon follow - and it would definitely get people's attention and LOTS of free publicity on every news outlet in town!

Uh.. That didn't work out too well for Young Country when they put money in books at the Fort Worth library.

I have seen two and both in Oak Cliff. One on southbound 35 between Colorado and Zang. The other on southbound Loop 12 right after the Keeneland Parkway exit.

Gee - I didn't know that somebody tried that. I'll bet the folks at the Fort Worth library were thrilled to have an influx of new patrons. What happened to Young Country?

Another thing that Mark and KSKY could do is take a few tactics out of the Cumulus playbook.

For example, when Cumulus's Huckabee program went on the air, the very first call, which was put on the air within a second of the call in number being given for the first time, was a staged call from a Cumulus VP gushing with talking points from Cumulus's Huckabee/anti-Rush press releases. What KSKY could do is flood WBAP with calls during the 9:00 - 10:00 hour to the Ben Ferguson Show gushing on the air about how wonderful Ben Ferguson is and what a "refreshing alternative" he is to Mark Davis on 660 AM - making sure, of course, they get in the part about Mark Davis and 660. If calls coming in from "Muffy In Balch Springs" and "Bubba From Highland Park" all show on the caller ID as having a 404 area code, the screener just might assume that corporate is up to their old tricks and actually put the calls through! That would spread the word to WBAP listeners just as good as buying ads on WBAP - which, of course, Cumulus wouldn't sell.

And, just like Cumulus played tag team with Media Matters in order to drum up publicity/affiliates for Huckabee, Davis and KSKY could play tag team with the Occupy movement. A few months ago, the Occupy movement went on this really creepy, violent, nighttime rampage and vandalized San Francisco's Mission District (see: http://blog.sfgate.com/crime/2012/05/23/anarchists-trashing-of-mission-now-on-youtube/?tsp=1 ) Davis and KSKY could perhaps play tag team with some local Occupy cell and have them go on a similar rampage through downtown Dallas or downtown Fort Worth or perhaps even both with loud chants and huge banners demanding that the evil monster Mark Davis be removed from the 660 AM airwaves. Probably a good idea that the banners also mention 7:00 AM to 10 AM weekdays in a font large enough to show up on the television cameras. That, too, would get LOTS of local media coverage and certainly would help get the word out that Mark is now on KSKY.

Gee, KSKY really ought to hire me as their promotions director. I could take the station to a level of visibility that it has never even dreamed of!

I saw one heading on the Business 121 Road on the way to Frisco the other day.

I do not understans why 102.9 went that direction when they own KISS. I gues it is to protect the Top 40 format with such format changes at 107.9 and not knowing if CBS was going to AMP one of their properties.
