Word is that CBS was done with its changes before Radio One decided to blow up 92.1.
It's all about billing. Mix bills more than Hot did.
The Point^H^H^H^H^H Spot has been playing most of Sunny's gold category since day 1 with 2 crispy 70s titles an hour at :15 and :55 or so. Based on the imaging changes that now stage those 80's titles, Sunny is paying attention.
92.1 is CHR. It's just not mainstream. I would suppose that if you tested Now's library with Hispanics it would test well. It reminds me of what the Jerry Clifton/Don Kelly stations did in the late 80's. Freestyle may no longer be a thing, but Now is following their playbook, right down to calling out KRBE for being slow on new music. Then again, Jay Stevens is a VP at Radio One, and Jay came up the ranks programming CHRs like this back in the day.
