I see that P&K have had a dramatic increase in the ratings for KDBN (please note sarcasm). ;)

I am a bit surprised that WBAP & KRLD are missing from the top 25... I guess they don't do as well in the 25 - 54 huh?

News and news / talk do much better in ´12+ than 25-54 because much of the audience is over 55.

I find it UNBELEIVEABLE that WBAP didn't even show.

The 25-54 probem for AM news and news / talkers is why many stations with these formats have either moved to FM (WIBC, KIRO, WTOP, KTAR) or begun FM simulcasts (KSL, WWL, etc) and why new FM n/t formats are beating the old line AMs in places like Pittsburgh and Minneapolis.

In general, about half of AM listening is now over 55 years of age, and that is where acceptance of AM still exists. The two younger generations grew up on FM and seldom listens to AM... in no small part due to the noise, audio quality and such.

WOW, I'm going to see the death of AM Radio in my lifetime...Damn, let's get them moved...Nevermind, most radio station audio, AM and FM sounds like @ss anyway. CC using inferior codecs, nearly all stations over-processed and it seems no one with an ear that cares.

I'd agree that the fact that not one AM station made the top 25 is interesting (and alarming, for a lot of people) but here's something else noteworthy:

KESS 16th-8th-11th
KTCY 19th-16th-11th

KBFB 18th-18th-13th
KJKK 14th-13th-13th
KSOC 8th-11th-15th
KNOR 20th-21st-16th

KTCK 16th-19th-16th
KEGL 13th-14th-18th
KLLI 22nd-25th-18th
KDGE 10th-16th-20th
KRNB 22nd-24th-21st
KESN 21st-20th-22nd
KPMZ 28th-21st-23rd

KERA 22nd-21st-24th
KMVK 25th-26th-25th

Look at where some of the the rim-shots appear...in the middle of the list. Considering KESS has a decent signal I actually wouldn't have been surprised to have seen them higher up, but KTCY 104.9 beating out a number of Cedar Hill signals is really intriguing. Is it PPM placement, the continuing northward growth of the market or simply a station that fills a niche?

the main issue with the talkers not showing is perhaps not the demo, but the day-part. wbap is a mon-fri 6a-7p station.

Well, yeah, WBAP in 25-54 6 A to 7 P moves up to 23rd, making it into the top 25, barely.

AM talkers, in any daypart, are getting increasingly old.

A correction here to an earlier post about the PPM's and rim-shots. I mistakenly referred to KTCY as being on 104.9. It's actually on 101.7, of course; KZMP-FM is at 104.9, which previously held the KTCY call letters. Now where's my ginkgo biloba?
