The Bone will change formats too before to long.

The Rangers WILL go to 105.3 The Fan.
The Cowboys will stay with Cumulus.
KGGR will upgrade on 102.5 for a nighttime signal.
Skip Murphy will not be on the air in 2009 in this market.
There will be a full signal FM Gospel or Urban AC in this market.
990 am will be sold and someone will put a black talk format on.
Willis Johnson will finally get some props on this board for being the best Morning personality in D/FW

PS: If the Cowboys do move....they go to.......K104, KRNB and KKDA. Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not that is probably makes a difference, but Cumulus owns KTCK...

Do any of the KTCK talent have contracts expiring in 2009? Someone mentioned in another thread that Norm already signed a new contract. It doesn't seem that it was that long ago the morning drive team signed new contracts.

Yes they signed a 5 year contract around Nov. 2007. I know it was posted on All Access.

In the immortal of Dwaine "The Rock" Johnson, IT DOESNT MATTER ;)

Naw, ive seen talent split while under contract before. But the big question should be asked: Does Cumulus have the money to pay their talent until the contracts are up??

Last I heard the afternoon drive guys at KTCK have not signed to a new deal and it may be up in January. I also heard that the morning and afternoon guys at KLIF have been working without a contract for a few months now so perhaps Cumulus is not committing to contracts right now.

It is pretty evident when you listen to those guys that no one at KTCK is happy about the Cumulus ownership. Engineering and promotions positions and budgets have been cut to the point where it's starting to hurt their ability to compete. We'll see if it's bad enough for some shows to jump ship.

Salem, my brother... speaking of urban radio...
  • Skip is 86 in this market. Too much politics and he is way too classy to care any more.
  • Urban AC tries and tries, but somehow, that awful rap gets in the way because of that ratings thing. Ken was true, but even he caved in. Pity.
  • Black Talk has to be in this market, but 990 is where formats go to perish. Is that what we really want in DFW?
  • I - as I'm sure you do - know Willis well. Regardless of what anyone says, he has ALWAYS been #2 in this market next to Chapman. Ron may be off the air, but when you think of greatness in the mornings, few names stroll through heads like Chapman, Labella & Rody and the rest. Willis should always be in that list. There's some props.
  • Oh yeah, Cowboys on Skip Cheat-ums' station?! Can you imagine the awful broadcast that would be? Skip would scare Brad Sham right off the radio. HA!
