DFW Talk Radio ratings slide

The June ratings are posted and DFW's top talker ranks #15 overall... and it's sliding downward. What's up with that? Dallas not a talk radio market?

Summer travel season and lots of folks(shows and listeners) on vacation.

Liberal groups going on about the death of talk radio again! Wait till parents get their kiddies tucked away. Then the elections will fire up and they will get their bills coming in and 401k statements . Then check the books again on talk radio. it will be steadily rising!

Hardly...WBAP is down 30% in AQH and Cume from last June. They're 24th 25-54. Something is broke...maybe quite a few things.

Let me propose a theory...people get tired of hearing nothing but continuous bashing of the president 24 hours a day, everyday. It's like listening to the same record over and over...eventually you get bored with it and want to hear something else...and the demo who listen all day are either retired or unemployed because everyone else is trying to scrape out a buck or two during the day or sleeping if they have a night job...and the increasingly younger audience is not interested in listening to talkradio in its present incarnation...especially on AM.

It's all part of their(liberals) "pre election" psychological operation.

Last years numbers mean nothin. Rush, aint goin anywhere anytime soon. Unless the "fairness doctrine" is initiated and even then he aint goin anywhere. There's lots of room to find better radio shows out there. What some station dont get is the conservative drum doesnt cover all the demo they want. The conservatives want the independents/libertarians votes, they just dont want to hear the independents point of view. They just want to convert them and thats not happeneing. The way I see it is, conservatives want the whole pie and not to compromise the entire conservative package, but independents dont care about the social message conservatives lay out. They(independents) only care about "fiscal" responsibility and not the stupid social hang ups. Besides, BAP shoots more for the 35-55 demo.
