Guess even Dave's fellow EMT's couldn't save the show...

I'll try to show up for the funeral.

Sounds like CBS Radio has gotten tired of diamond dave and "rockstar" schtick, maybe he can get his weekend job back as an EMT.

How do you think Pugs and Kelly will react knowing that their lead in show is killing their numbers? What happens if Gavin decides to re-tool mid-days as well
trying to get Russ to do mornings.

Will Kelly sue CBS Radio? AGAIN!!!!!!

Let's see what transpires in NY and Big D.

Whatever they do, I bet everyone starts buying a SIRIUS satellite radio.
It's worth it!!!

Sigh.... How many times do we have to say this? Russ ain't gonna move to mornings.

Take your Sirius ass kissing to the Sirius message board.

HOLY JESUS! These guys are LAME!

Please dear Lord don't let these guys be the replacement.
I've been listening for 2 hours without even a chuckle.
Yet, they laugh like howler monkeys at the slightest bit of humor.
They have that typical morning bit humor crap going on. A constant flurry of bad, forced humor thrown at the audience.
I thought if I listened long enough there would be something of value.
I was wrong.
Is this really what programmers find funny?

Whether you want to admit it or not Sirius impacts D/FW terrestrial radio - So, we don't have to take our Sirius ass kissing to the Sirius board. I believe we can post on any board we wish. SIRIUS ROCKS!!!! FM is dead!

I agree that it is perfectly acceptable to discuss Sirius (and XM) related content in specific market boards, so long as it isn’t shameless ass kissing..

By that, I mean we don’t need to flood the market boards with things like “SIRIUS ROCKS” or “THANK GOD FOR SIRIUS” (the latter one we’ve all heard ad nauseam from you, personally).

If you want to have meaningful discussions about Sirius and XM’s possible impact on DFW radio, by all means go for it

Just do it without all that crappy ass kissing. “Whether you want to admit it or not”, doing so is a waste of bandwidth for folks coming in here primarily to discuss Dallas related radio. There are two boards on RI where you can do your satellite ass kissing.

If you're going to keep wasting space kissing satellite radio’s ass in the DALLAS board, then I’m going to keep wasting it by telling you to STFU!!!

Dude, calm down...this is a place where we can exchange ideas, even if we agree or disagree on them. If someone wants to bring that topic up here, let them. The last time I checked, you didnt house nor administer the servers this site is located on, nor have you been granted admin access. If it upsets you so much, take your toys and go play somewhere else.

Back on topic: This is another reason I switched to Sirius, and yes randrews, contrary to what your testicular radio overlords have told you,it does affect the arbitrons for this and every other market its in. Maybe the lesson CBS, CC and every othter "Big Free Radio" ownership group should take into account from this "incident" is that people dont want sub-par programming anymore. We dont want to hear 30-45 mins of spots per broadcast hour (See: P&K) nor do we want the same Bubblegum or Emo song spun 47 times a day. I hope this drives up sirius subscriptions (currently at 4 million) even higher and makes people such as yourself realize that testicular radio has become a subpar product.

DLR Gone - 3/29

This just in: CBS Radio has removed the low-rated David Lee Roth (right) from his post-Howard Stern morning slot at the company's stations in NYC, Philadelphia, Boston, and Pittsburgh. Just in time for the spring ratings sweep, which starts tomorrow. "JV And Elvis" now airs in NYC, at least. CBS recently flipped Philadelphia rocker WYSP, which carried Stern in morning drive, to "Free FM" all-talk with Roth in mornings. And it has plunged from 4th to 19th place in the ratings. We'll get more info later today about how the Junkies are doing as Stern's replacement at DC's WJFK-FM and Baltimore's WHFS when another round of Arbitrends gets released.....

I found it intersting on Sunday when KLLI ran a promo that said "KLLI, your home for Russ Martin, Pugs and Kelly, Tom Leykis and Love Lines" with nary a mention of DLR. Guess this is why.

Why is this subject brought up?Russ is doing very well in afternoons making CBS money, plus it is apparent his contract excludes mornings. This particular subject is dead.

What Gavin should do is run the previous day's RMS in the AM until Jagger's non compete is up and then bring Jagger, Mondo & Dean with Valerie! The former morning Edge had decent ratings.

That show that was on KLLI this morning was awful. It was like a bad ripoff of the RMS. The guy fake laughing in the background was annoying! He could never be Clo.

Let’s see...

Current sat radio subscriber base:

XM: 6 Million

Sirius: 4 Million

Current U.S. population estimate based on 2000 Census:

298 Million

I notice your use of the words “anticipated downturn on AM/FM radio”.

Let’s review history, shall we?

AM band: 1906

FM Band: 1939

TV: 1946

TV was supposed to be the death of radio.

There have been various additional inventions along the way that were also supposedly going to kill radio. That hasn’t happened yet either. What makes you so sure XM and Sirius will do it? I think sat and tera radio will peacefully co-exist, provided the sat radio services can find a way to end their continued revenue losses. Can you say “Commercials”?

See? Wasn't that "meaningful discussion"?

My world loves and welcomes change. Change is a good thing

Based on the combined sat radio subscriber base of 10 million, vs. the current U.S. population count of almost 300 Million, I fail to see even a remote inpact of sat radio on tera radio. The sat radio services continue to lose money. I forsee both services adding commercials in the near future, if they want to survive.

> Maybe the lesson CBS, CC

True, but so far many people also do not want to pay for less sub par radio programming either.

> We dont want to hear 30-45

Guess what, I think that's exacctly what's going to happen, on sat radio.

> (See: P&K)

Been there and done that already.

Tera radio has continued to co-exist with various other forms of media that could have wiped it out. So far, it hasn't happened.

I guess ignorance is bliss.
Edited by randrewsIII on 03/29/06 06:26 PM.

another slight correction. Discoverer of FM.Edwin Armstrong..first FM broadcast 1948..TV sets grew slowly..at first..not many stations.. finally in 1957 after 9 years it reached half of the population. Commercial Radio in 1920 grew slowly as well..finally ,just in time for the depression it reached half of the population in 1929..9 years as well. Talkies were supposed to kill radio..tv was suppose to kill motion pictures...cable was suppose to kill broadcast tv...satellite was suppose to kill cable..internet a death threat to the internet..so it goes. XM and Sirius will continue to grow and do better especially since receivers are coming down in price. Radio needs t ostep up to be competitive and its not IBOC,or multi cast..Its program content..plain and simple...It's called the basics.
