Diane Donato on WGY

I heard Diane Donato doing a news story on WGY. She has worked at several area stations of the years and of course was Ernie Tetrault's side kick in some Ford commercials. This past fall she guest co-hosted with Chuck Custer a couple of times like Kelly Lynch did. (And Kelly was later hired full time to work with Chuck) More recently Diane filled in at Pamal-Albany Broadcasting.

I don't know if she is full or part-time. I also heard Jim Gagliardi on WGY today, didn't he leave some time ago?

Yeah , when CC decided to air pre-recorded local news after 6:00pm he was let go. I remember when Gags read the local news live all the way to 12:00 AM.

I wish there was a "like" button...I would love to Gags on again.

Don't know whats going on with CC, but with the appearance of Diane Donato and Jim Gagliardi now in Albany, word has now come that CC Syracuse has let 2 newscasters go at WSYR. Might Albany be picking up some of the newscasts for Syracuse?

With Diane Donato and Jim Gagliardi already making appearences on WGY, I now have heard Mike Patrick formerly of Froggy doing the same. Clear Channel has been doing a lot of cutbacks in staff companywide. So why are we hearing these people? They are only doing reports, not full newscasts. It could be free lance, but I am thinking it might be that all 3 of these people are working perhaps in the sales dep't and someone hands them copy, sends them to the production studio and it is a clever way to make the station look like it has a larger news staff than it really has. Just a guess, anyone know?

More likely, WGY is serving as a CC news hub for the region with Diane, Jim and Mike being hired to do news for Albany, Syracuse and other markets.

I agree with BoomerBuzz....I'm sure they're now acting as a hub of news for the Northeast. They also hired John Craig from Channel 13. CC tends to fire people and then use other markets to cover the area. It's a bad practice that's been going on in radio. There's no way someone 300 miles away can cover an area like someone who is local to the market, but sadly, that's the direction radio is moving in.
