Diane Pryor gone from 'KTU

It was in this morning's RAMP newsletter (which I accidentally deleted before I could quote). After 14 years, PD Rob Miller wishes her "best of luck", then asks for demos if you have 5 years' experience and are relatable. Friday was her last show.

Re: Diane Prior gone from 'KTU

Wow :(

Diane was one of the originals on 103.5 'KTU. And if I'm not mistaken, she was part of the original 'KTU (on 92.3) as well as Z-100. She sounded GREAT on the air, nice person, awesome personality. For the couple of times we've met at Beatstock and the Freestyle Free For All at the Taj Mahal, she was very pleasant. :)

Not counting Hollywood Hamilton and Goumba Johnny (since they did have "breaks" in their tenure at 'KTU), she was the last original on-air personality there. However, unlike the exit of Broadway Bill Lee where I sensed a change of format coming, this sounds like cost-cutting, unfortunately. I don't see the format being affected though.

Diane, I wish you well :)

I spoke to her once or twice!! once I won a good prize from her, she sounded so sweet, so sad she was fired. I am glad I did not become a DJ, prob would ahve been fired by now. ???

Diane is one of the sweetest, nicest and most sincere people I've had the pleasure of working with. A market legend dating back to the original KTU, Z100 and the KTU of today. 14 years is a really good run at one station, even prior (no pun intended) to the current radio employment climate. I have every expectation she won't be idle for long.

All the best, Di!

Tony, you're right that she's the sole original continuous dj on KTU from the 1996 launch.
Diane Prior of course was on the original 92KTU. She and Frankie Blue came there after the station was a ratings success. When 103.5KTU signed on, she was doing the 10PM to 2AM shift. She was known as the Fox that Rocks. Anyone remember that? I too have met Ms. Prior on several occasions. I must say she was always very nice and gracious. Wish her all the best.

They fired her,or she left on her own?

Well, if she had no idea Friday was her last show on WKTU, what would you think?

With all due respect....

Clear Channel cutting costs + Diane Prior (who would have been at the station for 14 years as of Feb. 10th) = Let go. :(

Diane IS a radio legend though, she'll bounce back somewhere :)

But wait a minute, aren't they looking for a new person to fill that position. Why would she have been let go if their looking for someone else?

Cheaper to pay the new person. :(

I always thought Diane was a class act and a great presence on the air. 14 years is not a bad run, almost unheard of nowadays (especially on a Clear Channel station), but still very sorry to hear that she left. I, for one, will miss hearing her.

She probably left on her own, she didn't like the current way ktu was heading

With all due respect. Sometimes people get fired for performance that you and I might be unaware of. Just a thought

When a person usually starts out with a sentence like that, that tends to raise speculation about something, even if a person claims that they are unaware of.

Care to divulge radaioman since you opened that door?
