Dick Bartley or Tom Kent?; Searching for update on Dick Bartley

There are some markets that carry one and/or both of Dick Bartley's radio programs and some that carry one and/or both of Tom Kent's programs. Will some Bartley stations convert to Tom Kent or keep the Bartley program(s)? Also, has Dick Bartley found another distributor yet for his programs?

we were told bartley was done.. so now we air Tom Kent now.

Dick used to be much better, and had a wayyy more interesting show.
His American Gold was pretty dry and sterile, and played way too many predictable songs.

Still, he was always a lot better than the sellout Mike Harvey.

His web site says he will continue to host his show through March 31.

According to dickbartley.com, he plans to continue his shows after the deadline in question, implying that the shows will still be on the air afterwards. But with which distributor? Off the top of my head, there's the Premiere Radio Networks, Dial Global, and Westwood One....

I'd like to see a station list for Bartley's show(s).
He doesn't have them online anymore. I'm sure the number of stations is small.

Too bad. R&R's Greatest Hits used to be a good show.

I loved Dick Bartley's show but Rock N Roll's Greatest Hits list became way too safe.

I'd like to see him do something similar to Solid Gold Saturday Night and flesh out the list just a little bit.

His website says discussions are underway with the goal of uninterrupted programming, and that details will be announced. That said, ABC Radio Networks are owned by a corporation that just got kicked off the New York Stock Exchange at 11 cents a share. I would leave it to my attorneys and my agent to handle until it is time to announce; but then, I am nobody but a loyal listener and person who works for a lawfirm that has attorneys who know radio and syndication inside and out - and no, we do not represent Dick Bartley in this matter.

A return of Solid Gold Saturday Night with an expanded list would be outstanding.

I'm way too cynical sometimes, but he'll either show up or he won't. Fortunately for me, I have this outrageously enormous collection of great oldies - including obscure and forgotten 45's - if he does not show up. He isn't spilling the beans, so we don't know. It's his life, so the suggestion box probably doesn't mean a whole lot right now.

Wasn't that a great show?
You'd hear the big songs, plus usually after the last break of the hour, at bout :52-:54, you'd hear a true gem such as One Summer Night by the Danleers or Tonight Could Be The Night by the Velvets.

I too have a big collection of CDs (Beach Boys, Four Seasons, Del Shannon, Paul Revere & Raiders, Beatles, Chicago, Elvis, Doo Wop, etc.) as well as MP3s but would love to hear some of this great music on the radio again, "real" oldies, not the stations that say they have to play 70s when in fact they put too much emphasis on 80s and play only a scant few songs from the 70s.

It would be great to hear that show again with his choice of a playlist.

Announced today, and posted on www.dickbartley.com as well as
a story on www.radioandrecords.com, is that Bartley's two shows
will be syndicated by USRN (United Stations Radio Networks) as of
April 1.

Geez, I didn't know USRN was still around. Weren't they more or less
the corporate successor of the RKO Radio Network back in the '80s?
IIRC, Bartley's show ("SGSN") moved from RKO to USRN at the time.

Glad to hear it. Still wish he'd bring back "Solid Gold Saturday Night"

I too am very glad to hear it, and I am very happy for Dick. I have listened to his programs for a number of years - not as long as some who have posted perhaps, but at least 20 years.

I remember when he started SGSN on WFYR Chicago & then it went national. I'm happy for his success he's a good guy.
