Dick Clark Passes

Probably best known for hosting American Bandstand on television, he was also closely associated wih NYC through the annual New Year's Eve TV broadcasts he had done for many years from Times Square.
Clark had done several syndicated countdown radio shows, such as Dick Clark Music Survey, primarily in the 1980's. Anyone know whether they had aired in the New York area?

Headline:
"Oldest Living Teenager, Dies at 82."

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

One of the greatest icons in radio and TV. He will be truly missed :'( Let's see where the New Year's Rocking Eve goes now that Ryan Seacrest will be the solo host.

The Dick Clark National Music Survey aired on 97 WYNY Sunday evenings back in the day. Dick Clark's Rock-Roll & Remember also aired Sunday mornings on WCBS-FM once upon a time.

The Dick Clark National Music Survey was also on WCBS-FM (before it got to WYNY), and I think it was on WPIX too.

Growing up with Dick Clark in the 70's and 80's with the Pyramid shows and American Bandstand and Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve shows.......this guy is a legend among legends!! You will be missed!

I was sad hearing about our Teenager that died :-( R&R Heaven has a wonderful Legend now. I grew up running home to watch American Bandstand :) Many of the people today I know and where I saw them first was on that show :) RIP Dick, you will be missed!!! Radio and TV has beautiful tributes to him yesterday and today :) Thanks for the love of music Dick gave to me. I had the pleasure to have met him back in the 90's with my great station WCBSFM. He was so sweet and very soft spoken :)

"Dick Clack's Rewind with Gary Bryon" currently comes on CBS-FM either at 12am or 1am Sunday mornings. The show is really good, sadly due to its timing I never really catch it unless I leave my radio on while sleeping. If CBS-FM could change the time slot for the show, it would be a great tribute for Dick Clark so that more people could hear his syndicated rewind show (how many people are listening to the radio at 1am anyway?)

When you remember Dick Clark, remember that he had to turn states evidence to avoid getting indicted by a senate subcommittee in the 1959 payola scandals. ABC made Dick Clark divest himself from over 300 record company related businesses. Also read up on how he got the American Bandstand job from Bob Horne.

Dick Clark, Gary Bryon on Sunday night show, I am usually asleep or if coming home late I tune in. I know Gary a long long time!!! I would like to hear more, He does a great job!!!! :)

Well Ryan Seacrest is a good host in his own manner but he will never beat Dick Clark in terms of being a great host and producer.

So are you trashing this legend?

I'm so sad that we lost a great TV legend in his own rights. I saw it on the news the other day, as of yesterday, he was cremated, just like Walt Disney did back in 1966. I also heard that he was on a show called "Rock, Roll & Remember", and it can be heard every Sunday afternoon at 2 PM on WGNY's "Fox Oldies" in the Hudson Valley replacing the syndicated "Classic Countdown" show with Dick Bartley. I'm going to record this show every Sunday afternoon at 2 PM and let's see how long will it lasts in memory of Dick Clark. I'll look forward to that.
