What ever happened to Dick King, who was actually Charles Nuzum? He was in radio in the early 70s in Parkersburg and Cumberland, MD?

I want to say he went into PR but I'm not 100% sure on that? I never really knew him, just who he was.

If I get a chance a I'll ask around. I still know a few folks in that Charleston,Huntington,Parkersburg triangle.

I always thought his name was Richard Nuzum. Yes, he was PD at WUOK in Cumberland. When Jim Reese put an FM on the air in Clarksburg, Dick King moved over there. That would have been around 1972. He was from Clarksburg. Dick King was at WUOK when it was known as "Super K" and everybody on the air had a last name that began with a "K". People like King, Gary Kirtley, Tom Knight, Dave Kight. King's claim to fame was a great production technique he used. He always dragged out the last sylable of the last word in the copy so that it would easily mesh with the next event. He was a good guy and great in production. I hope he's doing well. The other guys mentioned above...Kirtley (aka: Gary Fergusson Nash) was a station broker but last I heard was a sales manager somewhere in Virginia. Knight (real name Tom Orr) last I heard was working at the old WJNL-AM in Johnstown, Pa but that was long ago. Kight I heard was working for a funeral home! Other people...GM Bob Gornall. I think he owns a beer distributorship in Cumberland. Jim Reese? If he's still around he's really getting "up there". He was a minister in Clifton Forge. His son is/was Grant Hudson at CKLW. I heard there was a big falling out beween the two. Another GM, Al Newton Cox (aka: smiling Al!)
is in Clarksburg doing some kind of political job. Johnny Foster, (aka: Johnny Michaels) is in Frostburg. Engineers include Ben Mann (Virgina?); Chuck Bloom (Altoona?); xxxxx Sweeney (Clarksburg?)

Dick Nuzum (King) died about Two Years Ago..He had lived in the Myrtle Beach Area for a few years..His funeral If I remember right was at Davis Weaver in Clarksburg..I made a Visitation...Al Cox (Newton) is Pretty Much Running the Clarksburg Branch of Chase Bank..He left radio at WRGT in 1973 for then Union National Bank(Chase Today) as Marketing Manager and worked his way up to where he is today..Al gave me my start in Radio in 1970 at WHAR...Today we are fellow members of the Clarksburg Lions Club..I worked for(With) Dick for a few months(1972) in the Early Days of WRGT,the Original station on 106.5....Al replaced Dick in 1973...Clarksburg Enginner Joe Sweeney(WRGT,WHAR,WPDX,WOBG) also died a few years Ago.

It is very distressing to hear Dick died. How old was he and what happened? Thank you for remembering Joe's name. I thought I heard he died also. He was a good guy but had some problems with drinking. Do you know any details of Dick's life after or during Clarksburg? I know there was a guy on the air either there or Fairmont who sounded alot like him.

I can't remember exactly how Dick Died...I saw the Obit in the Clarksburg Paper and attended the Visitation..He was about 60...He had been in Myrtle Beach for the past few years.......Another Clarksburg Radio Person passed away this Past Saturday....Robert Steinhilber(Bob Hilber) who was both Sales Manager and General Manager at WHAR/WVHF for quite a few years...In 1989 he bought WOBG and sold it to Burbach around 1998 or so...His Funeral was this Past Monday Night..Bob had been quite ill for the past couple of years..He was 76.
