Dick Morris

WPHT would be smart to fire this guy. I know his ratings has to be bad for the entire 10 months he's been on afternoons. Andy Bloom and Marc Rayfeild as I said many times, were stupid to hire this guy last year.

You've seen the books?

Look, I haven't heard Dick Morris, but I'm sure he is terrible. I'm also sure that this obsession of yours is going to drive you insane, because CBS doesn't care how many times you call the station. They're going to do what they're going to do.

Just to be frank, I called CBS radio in NYC and left them a message. I just did that this morning. and I also called cbs corporation. I did not call WPHT because they are not going to do anything and just ignore what I say.

Most likely, CBS will do the same as WPHT with regard to that feedback.

I just sent a fax to the President and CEO of CBS radio about WPHT. I don't know what Dan Mason will do, but at least they will look at it.

Actually, he likely won't. Because someone, if anyone still checks fax machines any longer, will file it in the proverbial circular file. A high ranking executive, heck, even a low ranking executive, is about as likely to read a faxed complaint as hit the megapowerball jackpot.

I hate to tell you, Julius, but radio people laugh at listeners like you. Seriously. We do. You take this stuff way more seriously than anyone who actually does it for a living.

At my old station we used to have a guy who would call and bug anyone who would listen about engineering stuff. Dealing with signal dead spots, compression, etc. The advice he gave was actually good advice. You know what? We still made fun of him and did nothing.

You can't win this fight. When CBS is ready to make changes to WPHT, they'll make them. Until then, nothing any of us says will make a bit of difference.

and that's sad. We should have a say in what we hear, not some PD making the choices for us.

You DO have a say. It's called an on/off switch. Learn how to use it.
Fine, I will use it. I'm no longer listening to 1210 and recording over all of my WPHT tapes, as of this moment and this time, I really mean it as hard as it is for the posters to believe . I will devote my time listening and recording to KYW and the FM stations. I'm tired of complaining and listening to 1210.

contact WPHT and CBS and please ask them to remove Dick Morris from the station. You need to do your part.

contact info if you want to complain to them directly about WPHT.

This was fun for a while, but now it's getting to the level of being spam. Seriously, man, you need a hobby. One besides obsessing over a radio station. I don't even care that much about the station I WORK AT!

Dick Morris is terrible. We all agree. There is absolutely nothing any of us can do about it. Nothing.

The only thing I can do is not listen to 1210 anymore. that would solve everything.

There are any number of stations whose programming demographics don't include me. And I never listen as a consequence. But in nearly seven decades as a listener I've never demanded that ayone be taken off the air because they don't happen to suit my taste.

This is a free country and station owners, subject to FCC guidelines, are free to appeal to whaever audience they choose - and in 2014 they usually choose to follow the ratings fior the audience they're seeking.

I've never heard Dick Morris do a talk show but he can't be any worse than some that I have heard - and this man did help put his buddy Bill in the White House.

That's because radio management thinks politicians, bloggers and TV personalities make good radio hosts. They don't. It would be like asking me to be a welder or a brain surgeon. I just couldn't do it.

If you're talking about politics, who better to lead the discussion than someone who's been in the game? That's why ESPN hires former athletes for their channel. One of the big problems in the media today is credibility. Politicians and political operatives know their subject. Granted, they're not very entertaining. But in reality, politics isn't normally very entertaining either. Perhaps the mistake we've made here is assuming that political discussion is supposed to be entertaining. Maybe that's at the heart of the problem. A former small market Top 40 DJ is seen as the guru of the conservative movement. Then again, we elected a former actor President. What we REALLY need are REAL entertainers talking about something other than politics. Now THAT would be worth listening to.

It takes a radio person to do radio. The politicians can be guests, but I can't think of one non-radio person that I've seen turn into a great host.

I'm not talking about leading any movements or influencing politics. I'm talking about doing good radio. Rush is at the top of the game because he runs his show like a music show. Instead of songs he takes calls or plays audio clips.

What makes someone a radio person? Special certification? A license? Majoring in college? Previous experience? Lots of people have become radio people with no previous radio background. They do it every day. Are they great? That's subjective. I can also think of a lot of radio people who are terrible hosts. Truthfully even brain surgery and welding are taught skills. One is not born a brain surgeon. Same with radio. So anyone can be taught how to host a radio show.

BTW does Rush take listener phone calls? Last time I listened, he didn't.
