Dick Oakley, WVOT-WXYY

Anyone know what ever happened to this guy? He was GM at WVOT-WXYY AM/FM in Wilson, NC around 1980 - 83. He was replaced by Jones Fuquay when Voyager Communications bought the combo and moved the the FM to Raleigh.

For that matter, what ever happened to Jones Fuquay?

Holy cow. Those are names I haven't seen for a while. I worked for Dick as a young punk jock at WVOT back in the day, and knew Jones from his days programming cross-town WGTM, before he moved to Raleigh to sell for WPTF (or was it WQDR?), prior to his Voyager days. As for where they are now, I have no idea...!

I know Dick Oakley and am a friend of his. I work as a mutual fund wholesaler and I market my product to investment advisors like Dick. He is a good man and one of the most interesting people that I have met. This past Thursday, he was telling me that he had recently called a radio show to voice his opinion and it came up that he was in radio before getting into financial services. He last worked in radio in Greenville, SC and went to a city to do a golf outing and he and his wife liked the place enough to quit their jobs and relocate. They remain happily married in that city. I Googled his name to see if any links to his prior career popped up and a link to this thread caught my eye.
