Dick Plessinger Dies

Mr. Richard Plessinger, owner of Oyster Radio and Oyster Country in Apalachicola died earlier this week. He had been fighting cancer for about a year. His funeral will be Friday in Hamilton, OH. There will be a memorial service at a later date in Apalachicola/Eastpoint. He was a nice man....drove an old beat up Ford Ranger pickup....very down to earth....you would never know he was worth over 100 million bucks...he made most of his money being in on the ground floor of the cellular boom in the 80's.

RIP Dick!

Charlie

That's very sad news.Dick was one of the nicest guys in the business.Glad that I had the time to stop by,and see him last summer.I had the pleasure of being his competition for almost 4 years in that quaint area.I extend my sympathy to his wife Claire, and son Rick.He will be missed.Charlie, pass the arrangement info along,if you get it.

Thanks for posting this, Charlie.

He was indeed a class act and great radio guy. I'm glad I had the chance to get acquainted with him.

I'd also be interested in knowing when the memorial service is, if you are able to find out that info.

Oh wow, this is shocking, sad news.

I have a piece of equipment from one of their old stations, a Senheiser MD421U that Rick gave me when I was doing some work for them

God Bless the Oyster Radio Family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
