Dick Robinson to launch "The Original GAS Station"

Have some insider knowledge that WDRC legend and Connecticut School of Broadcasting owner Dick Robinson has some big New Year's plans. He's launching a non-commercial Internet radio station devoted to standards called "The Original GAS Station." A studio at CSB in Farmington has been dedicated to the effort. The station is currently in testing mode and will officially launch at midnight Friday. Don't know all his plans for the station, but it was apparently have a wide playlist from the 40s, 50s and 60s as well as songs from the Great American Songbook (hence the "GAS station" ;abel) done by such current artists as Michael Buble, Jane Monheit, Rod Stewart and more. The station is streaming at theoriginalgasstation.com.

The player is live on the site but I don't know if it's running off of Live365's own servers or if they are streaming live from Farmington. It's a nice effort but I wonder how much of the target demo will actually find it and use it. That's one of the things that made me decide to pull my oldies webstream several years ago (... and not being able to monetise the stream enough to pay the expenses helped, too).

I hope it works out well for him. I listened for awhile and it's a nice listen for those who enjoy the format.

Good luck with it Dick.Thats great. I love hearing these old tunes.I wonder if he will expand the format on WDRC's HD sub channels .Once he's gets going with it for awhile.
