Dick Wilson ("Mr. Whipple"), remembered...

He was also the father of Melanie Wilson, who played
Jennifer, the flight attendant who was Larry's (Mark
Linn-Baker) girlfriend on "Perfect Strangers."

I can remember Dick Wilson as a drunk always at
Darrin's favorite bar on "Bewitched."

Gee, I hate to see another icon go.

Yes - it's too bad to see an icon pass. Wilson led a long life, hopefully it was a full one, as well. Mr. Whipple must have been a gift to him, and probably made him pretty secure, financially speaking.

Reading Wilson's obit, it occurred to me that this kind of long-term ad campaign with a fictional character "spokesperson" has become mostly a thing of the past, I guess Madge the Manicurist, Josephine the Plumber, Mr. Whipple and others like them are considered passe. The Maytag Repairman is still around, though he usually doesn't speak. Of course, the original Maytag guy (Jesse White) passed away years ago.

One good thing is that he now no longer has to think about his dear daughter doing that horrible show... Thoughts & prayers...
