6 - HBO
8- KOTA Rapid City, SD (NBC/ABC)
9 - KTHI Fargo, ND (ABC)
10- KXMB Bismarck, ND (CBS/ABC)
11 - WTCG Atlanta (Ind)
12 - CBN
13 - KPSD Eagle Butte, SD (PBS)
2 and 7 were left empty because those were the OTA stations in town. KDIX on 2, and a KFYR translator on 7.
Jumping into the world of providing satellite stations, this was a much better lineup than that of 1976 that I posted last week.
This is the year my dad decided it was now worth the money to get cable (Especially since at this time HBO was included with the standard subscription). I still remember the day the cable guy came by, going from the 2 OTA stations we had to this lineup felt like heaven as a kid.
It would be a couple more years before the duplicate channels were eliminated.
