Did 680 The Fan drop it's AM signal today?

I noticed that 680 The Fan was not on 680 today, just 93.7. Did they drop the AM signal permanently or are they upgrading it? Their Facebook page said to get the App, so I don't know what's going on. I DO know that 93.7 becomes WFBC at Buford and wipes out The Fan's signal at that point. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

I highly doubt they would drop 680. With 93.7 being a low-power translator, that would make absolutely no sense.

Lots of nasty weather up this way and the tower farm is in a flood plain, although I would hope Dickey would have prepared for that.

They had technical problems yesterday on the AM side. Dickey didn't specify to me what.

So if the translator is required to "rebroadcast" the signal from the main station and the main station is down, then shouldn't the translator be off, too?

IIRC there is a "reasonable" time allowance in the rules. I do know AM's go off the air due to FCC time limitations in their AM license can operate their FM translator 24 hours a day.

No. "Flea power" is a result of deregulation that started in the mid 1970's. When the 20+ clear channels (not the company) had their continental US night time protection ended. The FCC went on a quest to see how much RF interference the AM band could tolerate at night. Internet transmission is not regulated by the FCC. The FM translators are a recent event.
