Did Any Stations Go "All Whitney" Yesterday

I wasn't able to be near a radio when it was announced that Whitney Houston had died inside a hotel at the Beverly Hilton.

So, when the announcement came did many or any L.A. stations go "all Whitney," like most stations went "All Michael Jackson," following the report of her death?

When I tuned to KOST in the 1st hours after her death and they were playing a lot of her music, but I don't think it was "all" Whitney.

The Wave was talking about her a lot, but I only heard a song or two an hour throughout the night.

I believe that her passing on a Saturday limited the amount of time devoted to her. Stations were caught flat footed. At a lot of stations there isn't much that can be done because they aren't live. KOST and the Wave were and it was still a limited amount of programming. Guess programmers didn't see her the same way as they did MJ. I wasn't impressed with the new guy at KOST and the Wave had Brie Tennis who did speak of the tragedy, but I still felt it was lacking...

A few songs were played here or there, but this passing has not caught the attention of radio, as was the case for Michael Jackson.

After MJ died, his songs were heard everywhere. But after Whitney, the significance is not just the same. Whether it has to do with Whitney's music (mostly slower and romantic / dance) and it's impact on music programming or some other reason.....it's a shame that she's not getting as much attention as MJ on the radio.

MTV actually played a few of her music videos yesterday in a row, but that's really it. Unfortunately it takes a death of a music star, for "MTV" to be MTV once again.

KTWV played her songs all night Saturday until 12am
KJLH played her songs until 8pm
KDAY and KHHT were playing some of her songs but not continous like the others. No surpirse because most of them are not live on the weekends.

I was listening on my phone other stations in other cities played her music even WKTU in New York. Most of Radio One Urban AC stations played her songs too. I didnt here about her death until I got to the gym everyone was just shocked.

Playlist 92.7 played a lot of other songs from other music artists but, they had a liner saying, " Playlist 92.7 is remembering Whitney Houston" then they would go into a song by her.
