Did anyone catch new show Sunday on WATD?

HI, wonder if anyone caught new show Sunday 12-3 on WATD . Sam Kopper? "the Natural" What do you think??? I was suprized. Quite a change.

Yup, Sam Kopper from the old BCN......."the renaissance man of radio".........show sounded good.......can't wait for next Sunday.

I made it a point to catch it. I remember listening to Sam on WBCN from 1968 to 1973, he was one of the original pioneering jocks of their "FM underground" AOR format. He was also PD for part of that time. He has had a successful career as a noted producer and recording engineer since then, and has also sporadically continued in broadcasting. He was recently PD of a classic rock station in Charleston, SC.

He said on Sunday that "The Natural" is a temporary name for the show. He says he plans to pick a name from listener suggestions e-mailed via his website http://www.samkopper.com. He describes the show as "50 Years of Rock and Roll", and he really did play music from the early 50's up to the present day.

The show on WATD actually starts at about 12:15 PM Sundays. WATD has fifteen minutes of their award-winning local news at noon. There are very few local stations that still produce newscasts for their markets like WATD nowadays.

What a joke. I was listening to their 'award winning' coverage the other day, and some very loud guy was reading the story right out of the Globe (with credit I might add). it was a wire report, it was a Globe story. I know, because I had just read it not five minutes before and had to laugh at this total rip-off.

But glad to hear that Sam is on the air again.

what would be the problem with "reading" a news story that credit was given? Why recreate the wheel, so to speak??????obviously they can't cover every news story with a reporter and in depth investigation. The news they excel at is "LOCAL". As in South Shore towns , meetings etc. Show me another like it?

Well...It’s obvious they’re doing something right. They receive a number of AP/RTNDA awards each year and station owner Ed Perry recently received a lifetime achievement award. Don’t forget about their 2006 National Murrow Award in Overall Excellence.

Sorry, didn't proof read: credit was NOT given, hence my problem with the practice.

Hmmmm, just how many of those 'awards' have entry fees? Kind like the Special Olympics without all the great parking spaces, isn't it. Everyone who compeats wins. :p
