That Q106 recently did a 500 countdown of the requested songs? My question is how did they RECEIVE requests considering they don't have any email links (with the exception of Art) on the webpage? Not to mention I could not find a single telephone number on the website except for the VERY recently added contest line. Also somewhere in there is a link for Brian as well....also very recently added. I think they just got caught in a sham of a weekend idea. Cause I know damn well they don't take requests!

I also noticed they changed Baretta to Heath. How stupid do they think we are? We know Heath Cole was Baretta the whole time. How are those 16 year olds by the way, Heath?

Lastly, a HUGE problem I have with Q106 is there obvious lack of tact and subtley. The character of "2nd Grade Steve" is an obvious slam at Steve Smith from its top competitor Rock 93.9/101.7. Let's grow up a bit, huh Q106? Anyone in the area knows you and rock 93.9 are the top competing rock stations.

I also noticed someone on here is so incrediably fake it has to be a persona. I have reason to believe a certain DuhValleyGurl is none other than a certain person from one of the Nassau stations. Let's face it "sweety," "valley girls" may TALK like that, but they don't type that way.

Sad how radio stations sometimes forget that not ALL their listeners are idiots.
 
Oh My goodness, this sounds very suspect indeed. and just down right mean...talk about trashin and exposin' you go for it big lady-p....speakin' about goin' for it, my big girlfriend at cc told me that they used to try the diner at noon and that they had no luck...i wonder if how my man Bud Hill would feel about that. He always took my requests :) wink, wink...bring it on big daddy...

There's no animosity there. Simply pointing out a fact. The Viking opened the door not me. Do you seriously think it was good programming for Q-106 to have a Top 500 requests weekend when they don't even solicit or play requests? You are right. Most of the UV stations are tracked, but this thread wasn't about them. It's sad that live radio is pretty much dead there. Why don't we take a poll of the UV programmers. How much of your airtime is live vs voicetracked? Oh wait a second, maybe this question should be directed to the respective corporate hq's since most of the programming decisions are made somewhere other than the UV. Ok, Lowry, Lou, let's have it.

Did you listen to the BBQ today at noon? I tuned in, because their website claims they take requests, and sure enough I heard callers requesting songs!

So while I doubt the top 500 countdown was solely based on Q106 listeners, seems as though they do take requests, and play them, too!

Well, if the Q still has the same phone numbers it's had for years (603) 542-7735 (which they don't like to use anymore) and the last 800-number I was around for was 1-800-639-1061, then it's quite possible requests could be taken. As far as them soliciting them goes, I haven't been around to hear. True, Q-junkies could always find a way to call the station, but when I was there the phones were pretty dead. (Leif, this was before you came on board.)

Voicetracked, yes, but there was always somebody lingering about the studios until the close of the business day (about 5 or 6pm). As far as them getting enough requests in to qualify for a top-500 countdown, I sincerely doubt it. My guess is they did it just as they did back in their CHR days. Compile (read: "borrow") a list from a service, then those that called in with that tune got aired at the appropriate position. This is not to say that their countdowns were rigged before, just that during normal dayparts the song would come up on the playlist, and they'd snatch a pre-recorded call off the line.

Whether or not they opted to answer the phone everytime it rang, I kinda doubt that one too. Sorry, but running a cluster of stations takes time away from a phone line.
 
Radio 101: EVERYTHING in radio is rigged

CHR jocks have to call friends of theirs to play during request hours (yes Triple X, this includes you too.)
