DID C.C. GET CANNED!

I asked a similar question several months ago when he didn't reply to an email I sent him. No one posted a reply...maybe they will this time.

CC was supposedly sending out notices yesterday that he was available. There are some rumblings about FM Talk. Sounds like something that could help Salem. But, Cumulus also has a big FM talk in Nashville.

First of all, if C.C. did get canned that's a shame. He's a good guy, who lives and breathes radio. I do know that he was still employed at Salem a couple of weeks ago.

Now, on to the FM talk baloney. I'm not saying it's not true, but tell me what is to be gained by it?

AM is fine for talk, and 970 has a far greater signal than 94.7.

Salem isn't going to put on any kind of progressive talk, and an alternative conservative talker will cut into WGTK's audience.

Putting on all block programs on 94.7 will leave the sellers at Salem to try to sell 970 alone. It will be hard to maintain a sales staff with that.

Someone please explain the possible benefit to an FM talker for Salem, because I'm not seeing it at all.

That is happening in other markets. News Talk AM-FM simulcast. WQMF has to be making a lot of money. Kiss maybe. The Fox more likely, but it is a weak signal. Clear Channel would essentially have talk on 5 of the 9 signals they have: WKRD AM and FM, WHAS, WKJK and the potential simulcast. Seems like a lot of talk for one group. It is doubtful that a WHAS AM-FM simulcast would grow Clear Channel's market share. You can bet Main Line would like either Kiss or The Fox to go away. That would help WDJX or WLRS.

I don't think they'd get rid of QMF. They are the only station that plays deep classic rock cuts, instead of just the hits like SFR.

I think mainline should go all sports on 105.1 it would serve a need in this market and reception would be better then 101.7.

105.1 is a wasted signal w bad numbers but w basically no employees i bet it makes a little $$$ but w a viable format it could do pretty well i think but just my opinion.

I have heard alot more negative about cc matthews then good but never met the man.He killed a great station i loved she 93.1

You can tell LRS isn't making any profit really. Thats why they can't afford streaming! I bet they're making barely enough to get by.
