Did Dana Hersey get the boot from 'RKO as well?

I think you may be right, the felon has had the same intro for over a week now, either that or Dana's on vacation?

I alsways thought these Dana Hersey intros were silly, not funny.

I am surprised Dana wants to be associated with WRKO, and doing moronic intro's.

How long has Dana Hersey been the voice of the station anyway? I can't remember a time since WHDH disappeared that he wasn't it.

Not that long, 2-3 years maybe? I remember they were using Jeff Davis for a while before Dana.

Maybe I'm mixing up the commercials with the station's voice.

As a voiceover guy, I am sure Dana couldn't care less about what he reads...as long as the check clears!?!

That fine with industrial videos.

However, with spots and radio work....the work you accept sometimes restricts you from doing other spots. Do a spot for a weight loss clinic...and you may find they won't cast you for a sporting goods spot.

Thanks for the lesson in voiceover work...like I don't know how it works....anyway...as a station voice (which is what Dana is/was, correct?), I am sure Dana is on a nice, cushy retainer!

You're welcome, no problem.

Re: Heard him on Savage

I heard Dana Hersey's voice tomight on promos, same as usual, as I listened to Michael Savage while driving home.

Are they new or canned promos?

Yeah, my thanking you was sarcasm...I know a thing or two about voiceover work, anyway. So do you know for a fact that Dana is NOT on retainer? Why are you surprised that Dana wants to be associated with WRKO?

And my response to that was even more sarcasm.

And I do as well.

mistermicrophone said:

Because WRKO is a trash station, badly run, not profitable, with embarassing people on the air.

mistermicrophone said:

I know that WRKO is cutting expenses left and right.

Isn't Dana Hersey in his early 80's at this point? Maybe he is just too old to do the voiceovers anymore.

So, you know for a FACT that Dana is not on retainer because of this? Not assuming, but you know it's a fact??

As for Dana not wanting to be associated w/ WRKO because of a whole bunch of no-so-objective opinions, please. As I said before, if the check clears...

I dont think anyone in the thread said it was a fact.

I don't know how "not-so-objective" someone has to be....but it seems that that's pretty much everyone's opinion of WRKO these days! ;-)

Dana might be the kind of guy that doesn't mind doing intro's for the Felon in the morning and the Reese the accused.....It might be different that Dana lives in the area.

However, there are people who maintain that their integrity would prevent them from being involved with nefarious(sp?) people and ventures....no matter what the money.

Dana may or may not be one of them...I don't know.

Good business is good business. And, being the station voice on a MAJOR MARKET station (and doing v/o for Red Sox games on that major market station) is GOOD BUSINESS. I am willing to bet those who claim they wouldn't voice the station, if they had the chance, have never voiced a major market station in their lives. It's radio, check your integrity at the door.

It's not good business to align yourself with questionable characters. Just ask "Zip" Connolly.

It's not good business to take every single dollar that someone puts in front of your nose. That's prostitution.

It's also not good business to taint yourself and your reputation.

You are certainly free to choose to do so. But don't be surprised when people make assumptions about you when you do.

PLEASE!!!!!!!!! As a voiceover person, it is GREAT business to be the station voice on a major market radio station, regardless of what people on this board think (the reference to Connolly is a WEAK comparison, he chose to partake in criminal activity on his own). A a station voice, you are on a retainer, so you know that even if they stop using you, you'll generally be paid the term of the "out" (unless they let you know the contract is not being renewed...which you'll know in advance). So how is this BAD from a voiceover business standpoint?
