For the past couple days, there seems to be - because Imus can fake controversy as well as anyone - serious tension between FBN business anchor-reporter Dagen McDowell and the cranky old host of "Imus In The Morning".
Thursday morning, Imus claimed Dagen was in a "snit", cut off her first business report by interrupting her mid-sentence, and she was not heard from or mentioned again. By the end of the broadcast, Dagen and her work podium were long gone from the FBN set.....
Considering Imus' weak FBN ratings and the fact his syndicated radio product had to be bartered to get over 50 affiliates - some on tiny stations - it probably isn't all that wise to remove a well-developed character who brings a few laughs and helps keep a business connection to a program that hardly fits a serious business network.
Sure, McDowell's character seems a bit contrived at times, but no more than Imus lecturing us all about diet keeping him alive, followed by a long litany of all his diseases and ailments.
Is Hinkley all over this?
